These videos are great! I’ve been studying for a while now (year plus) and really feel like I’m struggling now to improve. I do think that your ability to translate stimulus/answer choices is super helpful and if you could create something on mastering the language of the LSAT that would be great

I'm glad to hear they feel like they're working! I also wish I could churn them out more quickly, but so much of my time goes to teaching / tutoring / creating explanations for our site, so making each of these with the crumbs of time that remain takes forever. Good luck on the test!

For 28:49 it didn't seem like the variables listed were said to contribute to ethnic consciousness? It seemed as if it just stated such as "patterns of bilin..." then said AND the variations in ethnic consciousness. It didn't appear as if the previously listed stated variables were said to contribute to ethnic consciousness. Is there something I'm not seeing, so far inference questions seem to be the brick wall I'm running into :( I love the lessons though, they're incredibly informative and helpful.

On 15:50 answer choice A says ".... are influential thinkers". How can we derive the sentence "central to this type of critique..." to imply "influential thinkers. That part didn't click on me, is there any way to simplify the statement? I see how the rest of the sentences connect to answer choice A but i's the "influential thinkers" portion that messed me up.

Hi Patrick! these videos are awesome and the only thing helping me get through RC. Question, your names for the framework vary from the way you first introduced them. Is answer a question th same as explain something curious? and is Theme/example the same as illustrate a generalization? Thank you!

haha, yes, and sorry! It takes us so long to make each one of these that our curriculum names have evolved in the meantime. (it takes forever both because we stupidly decided on these high production values and because it's just me making them and most of my time is sucked up by teaching / tutoring / explanation-writing / student support / building other stuff on the site) Great decoding! After initially encouraging the switch from "Explain Something Curious" to the more flexible "Answer a Question", Matt found the latter term to be clunkier for teaching and wants to switch back to something more like the former. We actually want to rename that one Causal Explanation, to more clearly designate the type of passage we have in mind, but we've already changed the name once so we don't dare change it again so soon. :) And similarly, I found that students in class were not getting the intended meaning well enough with Illustrate a Generalization, so we switched to Theme / Examples, and that seems to better clarify the use-case of that framework. If you have a preference or a suggestion, we'd love to hear it (but I will try to stay consistent with the existing seven names for the rest of this video series).

@@LSATLab awesome thank you :) that makes perfect sense. I assume defend against a criticism has stayed the same? And even with how much time it takes, the visuals and the humor makes the material so much more memorable. I just signed up for your actual website to see if that was discussed in those videos. I’ve tried numerous amounts of expensive platforms for the lsat and you guys are by far the best! Hoping these videos help me with 2 weeks left for the November exam.

​@@ninazadushlivy9580 Oh, snap, is there really a "Defend Against Criticism" in there? Ugh. We ended up combining "Clarify a Misconception" and "Defend Against Criticism" under the broader heading of Challenge Position. Usually when authors defend someone against criticism they say that the critics have a misconception of what's going on, so those get pretty redundant. Challenge Position allows us to wrangle together a few common arcs: criticizing, defending against criticism, or clarifying a misconception. Thanks for trying us out! Maybe I'll see you in class (everyone gets at least one free class, if you're interested).

Oh, nice! Only the founder (Matt) is in La Jolla (technically Mission Bay; I think our La Jolla address is mainly for mail). He probably will say no, both because he's overwhelmed with work and was pretty covid-averse, but maybe not. I'll ask him. I can sell him on the idea that if he's going to be tutoring anyway, better that he get some fresh San Diego air en route. :) If you want to come up to LA, then I (Patrick) can definitely do in-person stuff. If you want to go to NoCal, then Laura's gotcha. haha
