Ngl the moment Troy said Kpop acts as a platform for LGBTQ+, I knew he was hella sus. Western belief, unfortunately, sees boy bands and fashion as being inherently queer coded (something that is changing with time). The irony is South Korea is a very conservative environment and the lgbtq+ idols often get cold receptions, to the point the industry prefers them to keep quiet about sexualities, despite any pandering it encourages. A very unfortunate part of the industry that is slooooowly changing. (And we k-pop stans can try to encourage and support more understanding in the industry, to allow people who want to entertain us to be able to live comfortable lives.)
