Hey Kelvin, very good video. Also to avoid companies that consistently makes losses, low or negative ROE. Avoid companies that are unable to consistently generate positive cash flow from operation. And avoid companies that are in sunset industry, e.g kodak eastman

Thank you for this fantastic video. I realize that after investing & trading for 12 years, I still learning from you. I have few questions (1) What number you consider debt to equity ratio is too high? (2) Tesla's Price to Equity ratio is 112%. Do you consider high? (3) You didn't mention the stock intrinsic value in your video. Do we need to avoid the stock which price is higher than the intrinsic value?
@KelvinLearnsInvesting
@KelvinLearnsInvesting 3 жыл бұрын
I normally apply the debt to equity ratio to mature companies, maybe above 95% is too high for me. For Tesla, which is stilll a growth company, I feel it's acceptable. Intrinsic value is very debatable. If we apply the intrinsic value method, Amazon, Tesla and many tech companies will be excluded because they are overvalued. Instead, I would look at companies by their future plans. Do they have plans to grow in the future? Or remain complacent? This is much more important than any financial ratios.

Hey Kelvin, would it be okay to buy dividend stocks (e.g. Ascendas REITS) at any price since you are holding them in the long run or is it to wait for them to be undervalued then buy them?

Hi Kelvin! Unrelated topic to this video but would like to ask you, i'm undecided between using either Saxo or IB, what are your thoughts on the currency conversion spread between the two? Thank you!
@KelvinLearnsInvesting
@KelvinLearnsInvesting 3 жыл бұрын
personally i didn't really look too much into it, but i feel it's neglible. instead, how i decide is like this: - will i reach $100k within a few years? if yes, i choose IB, otherwise i choose Saxo Btw, here's a tip to save on currency conversion on Saxo, choose USD as the base currency. Then use Revolut to convert the money, transfer into Saxo. That way, you can avoid the currency conversion commission within Saxo

@KelvinLearnsInvesting

From what I understand, XLE is in oil & gas. The world is transitioning to renewable energy, so i would think oil & gas companies are in big trouble unless they change to renewable energy too.

Um, is it possible that Breadtalk price can no longer “move” because it has been delisted? Cause the price actually went up from 0.08+ in 2005 to a high of 1.19 in 2018. Growth % wise, its really not bad.. their moat is the size of their group (including well liked restaurants like DTF). They’re able to negotiate better rental price with shopping complexes..
