Aw I’m so happy for Asher! He really did fool me! I actually agree with everything he said about why he is a vegan. I’ve been a vegan/vegetarian for years, but I started to slip up and eat chicken on rare occasions recently (especially when I feel pressured to by my family). This video reminded me that I shouldn’t let people pressure me into eating meat if I really don’t want to eat meat. I always feel better when I don’t eat meat because I always end up feeling a little guilty for eating a living creature, or contributing to the poor unethical treatment of animals. And there are so many vegan/vegetarian/plant based foods I really don’t need to be eating chicken or eggs or cheese on my pizza. It’s really that I let some people in my life basically shame me for my choices which kind of hurts because I didn’t realize that’s what they’re doing, but I honestly shouldn’t feel like I have to eat what they eat just to feel accepted by them. :( I don’t care if other people eat it, but I don’t want them to care that I don’t want to, and I just know that I feel happier and healthier when I avoid it. I wish I had more friends who felt the same way I do about it so I wouldn’t feel so alone in it though.

Now that they are speaking out more loudly the world is slowly changing. Conflicts usually don't end by asking politely. My ancestors didn't escape slavery by asking politely. Victims of the nazis didn't escape by asking politely. Women didn't get equal rights by asking politely. All these essential causes went out there and made their voices heard. That is why we protest and advocate for animals, they do not have a voice. The issue meat eaters have is that they look at this as a food issue when it's not. This isn't about us trying to hype up some trendy diet. It's about the BILLIONS of animals that get tortured, mistreated and killed every year and you not taking accountability for it. Meat eaters love to cry about slaughterhouse footage, about the videos of a mother cow screaming for her child that is ripped away from her so that humans can drinks the milk meant for her child. They cry about baby chicks being shredded alive because they are male and hence have no value to farmers and they cry about the pigs that are in such distress about being cramped into such tight spaces where they can barely move, that they cannibalize on other pigs. They will cry about all of that and then still go to the store and buy the very thing they were just crying about. The hypocrisy is immense. I see meat eaters at climate protests, demanding change, when the animal product industry is one of the leading causes of today's rapid climate change. So no, I'm not sorry about not being chill. I'm angry that people are actively supporting one of the cruelest and most harmful industry to our planet when they could so so easily just not. Are a few seconds of pleasure really worth all this pain and distruction?
