Sure there are definitely closet cheaters who use it for the advantage, those are the ones you want to really keep an eye out for. I remember people running lagswitches, wall hacks/aim bots and hacked lobbies on 360. On Blacks Ops 1, I started a game on Firing Range and it was nuts! People (including me) were running at god speed and after the game, I’d gained 10 levels 😮 That was when you could stay in the same lobby but I got out of there quickly lol. I cannot believe that in 2024, it feels as if there’s a cheater in almost every game. You also have pros and streamers cheating, mostly without consequence. SBMM seems to have made the problem worse. Back in halo you didn’t even need to be the first one you could “bridge” host and force it to yourself and stand by. I was a 12yr old interested kid at the time and learned how to do it quickly. You’d need more than the standby button on the modem too. Used to play Killzone 2 back in the day, was ranked top 25 in the world and would regularly be placed in games with the top 1% of players. No.2 in the world was a guy named Killionaire who would consistently lag switch and drop 100 kills per game. It was incredibly frustrating as you just couldn't legitimately get to No.1 for longer than a day due to this clown. That was my first experience with cheaters in an fps game.

I was like 13 or 14 when halo 2 came out and definitely tried all the different cheats just because it was fun , there was this one “ zombie glitch” where you would appear to be in one spot but on your screen you’re somewhere else , and as soon as you moved you’d be teleported back to your real body . So we would do it and keep the real body at your own base on ctf. And your ghost body would be passenger seat of the wart hog, driver would let you out right next to their flag and you get out grab the flag move and you’re teleported to your base

I played with the top 1000 EU faceit on CSGO. I got into matches with them if I searched late at night, I generally didn't deserve to be there but I was able to hang with them. Played with people and against people who went on to be actual pro players. In regular matchmaking I was getting domed every round by a sketchy guy. Then over time it started to sink in just how many people were closet cheating. After befriending and finding out some of these people were in fact using cheats, I just noped out. Sucks because that's what destroyed my dedication to being competitive at online games.

I remember that you got host in Halo 2 by having the best internet connection, generally that’s who got host. Mannn I remember getting a flash drive for the sole purpose of downloading mods for mw2 and having to go to some lobby that had this guy in it 24/7 and then after that having to be host which was around a 50/50 chance and then you could pull up your menu and have fun.. seemed like others liked it whenever you had super jump or some stuff like that able to get out of map and snipe really long range man what a time..

It literally adds aim assist, an exact copy of what you see in most games that have aim assist and it cannot do anything more. Its not even close to cheating, in my personal opinion it doesnt even level the playing field from controller to m&k cause m&k is scientifically better by a mile and a cronus still doesnt catch it up

I modded my OG Xbox to cheat on Halo2, I used to standby and bridge connections too. This was a part of the era, join in or get swallowed like a guppy. I was still above average in the game taking 1st or 2nd in all local and surrounding area tourneys, the modding was just a different level of fun. Things weren't as serious back then 😅😂 I couldn't fathom the thought of cheating in a game in today's day. As a consistent CS2 player, cheating is destroying our beloved competitive scene and makes me take frequent breaks from all FPS. I won't even touch COD anymore. 😢

I remember 2011 on modern warfare 2 on Xbox…. The CFG lobbies got soooo bad… IW took the servers down for like 2 weeks… and didn’t put it back up until a patch was released… I can genuinely say that for YEARS after that… it was a completely legit game. You didn’t see cheaters on Xbox. EVER. until we got to about 2017.. then new devs started finding other exploits. I switched to ps3 in 2020 and I still play mw2 to this day… it’s still alive.. I’m on custom firmware so I have the ability to run an anti-cheat script which detects all types of menu from CFG to SPRX & kicks the player upon menu detection. Ricochet & a lot of these just haven’t covered All of the zero day exploits in their games yet. So the fight continues & cheaters keep coming through the cracks like wack-a-mole. It will come to a stop… just probably not until the next gen comes out & it starts All over again. New hardware for them to exploit.

Firmware was completely hacked on the 360. Once Cforever dropped the silver bullet firmware hack they never could detect the jtag online anymore and when they did you would just KV swap with another unbanned console and then you were back online.

If not you'd either get a lobby with a host standbying, or a modder with infinite ammo dropping you from the sky. 6:03 You named 2 cheaters bud, they know what they are in for, and they are equipped for it. I can't think of a single name near the top who isn't. I am sure there has to be one. It is easy to have a bias towards your friends or other people around your age. Don't let them fool you. The facts of the mechanics of how the game behaves do not change just because x, y, or z are the ones playing it. I had 3 confirmed cheater action taken reports last week on warzone and 2 more on the BO6 beta. I was very impressed with the speed of the BO6 ones. I wasn't done playing when I got the report that action was taken. If you see a sus deathcam, report it. If they aren't cheating, then they don't have to worry about anything. Mass reports leading to banning only happen during big streams because of the exposure and their connections or to real cheaters. Your report isn't going to affect a non cheater.

You can still standby in For Honor :) I don’t use it but did it once a couple years back on accident I pressed the standby on my modem hoping it’d fix my bad net. Instead I just got free wins all day. Had no idea what the button was or why it caused it but was pretty cool. Other than that, I’m 20 and I’ve played with/used cheats on and off since 13. Most cheaters have been doing it since they were kids in fact a lot of csgo pros used to cheat in csgo, then fell in love with the gameplay, the game sense they learned from esp transferred to them playing competitively. PC gaming is just a different world but at the same time, console has had cheats since the 360 era
