As a fellow young teacher, I related to this literally almost 100%! The first year was definitely hard for me too but like you said, building relationships with the students and parents are crucial for making your life slightly easier. Happy Birthday! This is my 10th year teaching and my first time with kindergarten. I completely understand everything you’re saying. I know it sounds terrible, but I learned along time ago not to give importance to all that goes on in weekly meetings because it can be very stressful. From name tags, birthday gifts, yearly parties, treasure box, I’ve done it all. Finally, a class wouldn’t be complete with a few behavioral issues. I do have a teacher assistant in my class of 31. You will have ups and downs, but as you navigate your way through, it does get better. Good luck from a fellow teacher in Chicago.
