For small bowls, I suggest looking for sets of tiny bowls, that’s cheaper. Also you know it already...watch out for sales. One of my friends had a great idea. She saw 1 dozen plain glass candle holders on sale. She bought them and uses as bowls in dinner plates...looks amazing.
