Just picked one up, got a Demo bike from my local bike shop for $6,999. C1 build. Interesting geo on it. My “analog” bike is a Pivot Switchblade, size medium. To get the same feel, went with a large in the Yeti. Looking forward to some longer rides.

Got a 160, just two rides, one was Hartman Rocks in Gunnison, CO - technical chunk and flow. Bottom bracket height not an issue compared to SB150. Climbs like an beast. Charge port is crap. I also found myself riding more aggressive and with more confidence. Nice review thx!!!

Agree with your review. I am a 65 year old. With double knee and shoulder replacements. Most of the time. I ride in the rear. I have this bike. I also have a Trek Powerfly LT. Ride the Powerfly when riding with friends on acoustic bikes. Most of the times. The Yeti feels like I am holding it back going the normal pace. The few times I do lead. When I stop. To let everyone catch up. My thoughts are. It’s ok. Need to stop this. I need to get back behind. This thing is going to get me hurt. It just handles so well and wants to go fast.

To put the charger port back in you put the clip side first and slide the back in after. COUNTER intuitive but its how it is designed. Try it :)

Thanks for the review. I agree with most of it, that charging port door is super annoying- though I do not think it is water tight. I have taken it through streams and mud with no issues. Bottom line, it is super fun to ride. I do not need to compromise riding style or terrain, the bike is made to smash down anything. I did find (still do) there is a learning curve to riding ebikes and controlling the torque- especially climbing techy areas. Double clutching the pedals to pick your way through sections, like on an analog bike, can send you off your line in a heartbeat on an ebike. I have not used the app to change the motor dynamics or even readjusted the rear shock pivot points- it would be interesting to see/hear videos where folks have fine tuned the bikes using these adjustments. The price is challenging no doubt. I got mine with AXS shifting, and have no issues with the drivetrain, fyi. Thanks for the review.

My buddy had exactly the same shifting issue - again the cable housing/routing. It’s not the drivetrain itself. Yeti are replacing the rear triangle as a fix which doesn’t seem to make sense so we will see. Loves his bike all the same.

Man I have mine now for over an year. I have the T1 XT drivetrain. The bike brakes a lot! For a 12k bike, which I’ve paid I certainly don’t think is worth it. Suspension yes it’s very good. Everything else is status quo. The bike is okay. For a 13k bike they come with Shimano XT which I agree with you sucks. RSC mediocre brakes for the weight. Again, for 13k bike should not be an issue. I’ve been riding my wife’s Santa Cruz Bullit and man, for half of price I’m having much more fun! While the 160e is a great bike, it’s overpriced in my opinion. Mine is for sale. Great video tho

Great Review! Got my 160 C1 January of this year and put about 300 miles in it riding only about twice week, it's a game changer I LOVE IT! like you I was not that happy with the drive train (maybe just me who enjoyed a Sram Axs derailleur from my Santa Cruz Nomad) so I did replace the derailleur and went for sram gx axs. So I do have a "SramMano" drive train (shimano cassette, chain, crank and chainring with Sram axs derailleur) and never had any issues so far and shifts like butter. I did replace the code r brakes that came with the bike with a Magura MT7 and very happy with its Braking power now. About the water bottle you could try the fidlock water bottle it's simple and never rubs on the frame.

Excellent, excellent review. Wish I had it two months ago when I was agonizing over spending that much! That said, mine should be here in a week or so. I’ve been a Yeti fan since 2007 and had more bikes than care to admit. Still like my customized SB4.5 and will likely keep it. I also have a Levo SL, which is my go-to bike now. I was kinda disappointed that Yeti didn’t offer a 160 SL, but it is what it is. I’m in Sedona so we definitely have different terrain here, a lot chunkier and a lot slower, so it will be interesting to see how it works here. I did meet some team folks from Canada and they were sporting a few 160E’s and they were ecstatic with the way the bike handled, so hopefully I’ll be good to go. As far as drivetrain goes, I had changed the mechanical SRAM that came on the LSL to the AXS and I absolutely hated it. I tried both shifter options and I could never get used to it. I have XT on my SB4.5. I just recently switched over to the XT on my LSL and it’s money. Shifting is butter smooth, and the shifter feel is home to me. The Shimano Hyperglide+ is only great if you have all components with HG+, so cassette, chain, chainring, and derailleur. Also, some of the shifters are 11sp/12sp and there is a little slotted disc on the shifter that you can move to select which speed you’re running. I’m also an XT brake fan, and was concerned about the SRAM brakes (much prefer mineral oil), but I’ll give the Code’s a try since you really like them. Could not figure out why the didn’t do a complete XT build, but could be supply issues as well. Finally re tire insert...YES! saved my butt too many times. I run Rimpact’s from GB, and really like them (So does Pinkbike). Are you in the Coeur d’Alene area by chance?

Thanks for checking out the video! I ride primarily in the Boise/McCall area and in the desert in the winter. The 4.5 is such a great bike, one of my favorites.

7 hours charge time is not normal, its usually half that, yeti was tryna keep the price down haha. About that front tyre flat, you were riding down hill, rolling. There would have been a nearly identical outcome on an amish bike. People just need to learn how to ride smooth. I guess starting out on fully rigid and hard tails has been beneficial to my tyres.

Theory behind slow charger is it extends the battery life. It is a pain in the arse to have to wait that long, but if it extends the life of the battery probably worth the time.
