To tack on about the "danger zone" that Eric mentioned: allies count toward it. So if you only have 2 sanity left but you have an ally that can take 3 horror, you really have 5 left.

You're totally right but for me personally it is still the hardest thing to explain to new players. I even have a friend who feels so uncomfortable with damage or horror tokens on her cards, that she tends to overload her deck with healing options instead of soak or even just some deck-purpose cards in exchange of just accepting that some of your health or sanity is a resource. I never want to be pushy with deck building on the new players, but i wonder if there is a way to guide such players to more of the.. daring deck?

@@blipnblopus4430 I have a friend who is the opposite. He'll kill off allies before he takes a single point of damage. This was particularly frustrating in EotE where he killed several partners. There was only one that survived that 4p campaign and that's the one that I chose in scenario 1 and chose him the entire campaign. (Avery, I think. The one that lets you redraw frost tokens.)

I don't know why I watched this, I'm definitely not a new player, even so that first tip was exactly what I needed to hear. Too many times do I rush to complete an objective, something might happen that was inconsequential before but now when combined with the mythos step it completely flips the game on it's head. I think I've mastered tip 2 at this point, but I would love to hear advice from Justin/Bryn on how to pull off jankier multi card combo.

I can't help but go for the victory points even at the cost of trauma. There are so many cards in the game I am excited to play and they all cost experience.

If this video was a player card, it would be called Resourceful! Very astute video that should be required watching for new (and even not-so-new) players.

Great video Eric and Justin! It's been awesome to see Eric learn and play the game through 3 campaigns. Looking forward to even more play!

Wonderful video and a very insightful point of view! I would actually take those hints for some new players with whom i have a campaign planned for February-March! Thank you so much Justin and Eric! Keep up the great content!

Tip 5 is entirely coming from that Delve Too Deep in Unspeakable Oath, isn't it?

4 or less being the danger zone is tough with 5 health or sanity investigators =D. One thing I realized fairly early on is the value in having a vague sense of encounter decks. Ancient Evils or Crypt Chill or things that lower health/sanity are all hugely important to keep in mind, which becomes easier to do with a little experience.

As a player I am willing to sacrifice myself to get the group more xp if it's not going to lose us the scenario. But risking the whole scenario for an XP isn't worth it to me

Does Eric qualify as a new player these days? I mean, they’re practically an old lag now (who’s been chained in the basement for Russells amusement every time when Travis comes to visit )! :-p. Some excellent thoughts …Thanks for another great video .

As Eric says, they're a new player because they still don't remember the mulligan rules yet!
