I think its the high-risk/high-reward playstyle of the cash-out traits that make them feel bad. I would like to see set 10 with an econ trait that isn't HR/HW, just added econ for a weaker board.

There were Yordles (with Veigar) or Astral few sets ago. They were either ruining the meta or were useless and nobody wanted to play them, nothing in between. So if there would be an econ trait and it wouldn't include HR/HW, then they shouldn't also bring free units or gold. If they were going into component route -> loses = more components, then nobody would play it in late game, just sack to 3-5, rebuild at level 7 or 8 and have all champs covered with items. Scrap/Junkyard is already implemented as an augment, so there's no need for more one-component based traits. What's left? Winstreak oriented econ trait? It's kinda Noxus right now but stats aren't that much of an econ, rather combat power. We also don't want to see another Draven (legend) meta, where lobby is turbo sped-up with everyone trying to kill as many units as possible to generate loot. There's no good solution. HR/HW seems to be the best one just because it can't be forced without knowledge, doesn't reward immediately, can be interrupted or played against as long as units aren't overpowered. We have reached that point right now. 4 Gunners are risky to play because there's not enough frontline, 2 gunners are weak unless you got robotic arm/virulent and optimized items. Jayce isn't that strong to cash out by himself (unless there's a person going fast 8 and doesn't roll for units earlier/itemize). In diamond/master+ there's maybe 1-2 people playing gunners or none - well, thanks to Vanquishers I guess.

I do not understand how Prismatic on Tahm Kench is not the best out of S/G/P, let alone not the technical best starter augment in the game. Just off of the fact that gold is the universal way of strengthening your team. It's not xp, which ignores rerolls, and not rerolls, which ignores levels

Earlygame HP is insanely importent in the current meta and you're forced to sack to reach the increased interest leaving you in a bad spot

Even disregarding the HP sacrificed in the earlygame (although it's technically perfectly legitimate to sac HP for econ), gold augments like Hedge Fund will provide less "gold value" than a XP augment like Level Up or a reroll augment like golden ticket will. Gold augments' power comes because of its versatility: it can be used for rerolls, leveling, interest, etc. Therefore, it's balanced by giving you "less gold" I say this as a Tahm Kench enjoyer who enjoys having 30 gold's worth of interest at 2-1 :)

Just an FYI, every 2 and 3 cost unit in the game is worse than Cho and Kayle. I don't care that they scale. A unit that costs 9 gold should NEVER outperform a unit that costs 27 gold. Especially a minimum effort unit like Cho. At least for Kayle, you have to go level 9. And still, it's goddamn stupid. 9 gold. It beats more than half a team of 3 and 4 costs ON IT'S OWN. Dumb.
