I can attest to the broad leaf plantain. I was weed eating a yard last year and ended up standing right on top of a yellow jacket nest. I got stung 7 or 8 times and immediately went searching for the plantain, chewed it up, and put it on the stings. the pain stopped almost instantly

Local, raw honey is a natural antiseptic. As mentioned above, honey has antimicrobial properties. That's what makes it great for treating wounds. Because many types of bacteria can't survive in honey, it speeds up healing, diminishes swelling, and gives tissue the opportunity to grow back more quickly.

Avocados offer nearly 20 vitamins and minerals in every serving, including potassium (which helps control blood pressure), lutein (which is good for your eyes), and folate (which is crucial for cell repair and during pregnancy). Avocados are a good source of B vitamins, which help you fight off disease and infection.

Blue cheese may be good for your health, study suggests. A new study has linked blue cheese to better heart health leading to speculation that it may have led to French longevity. Blue cheeses like Roquefort and Bleu d'Auvergne are being credited with helping reduce cardiovascular disease in France.

Mullein for toilet paper is a bit of an urban legend.. The tiny hairs can stick in the skin and feel like shards of glass. That's the reason we have to filter it so well when taken as a tea.
@TrilliumWildEdibles

Never had that feeling when using it myself, nor have the people who I've seen that used it while out and about. Their reaction was very positive. Though admittedly I much prefer moss over mullein leaves because it works better in my opinion. I wonder why I've never experienced that feeling you described, that sounds bad. I understand the hairs can irritate the inner lining of the esophagus and throat. Do you have any idea why we have had different results? I ask because your input is valuable to me and you're very knowledgeable. Maybe growing conditions or moisture content in the leaves? Maybe sensitive skin/different skin types? This peaks my curiosity.
@christineguttadauria3791
@christineguttadauria3791 6 жыл бұрын
No doubt growing conditions and moisture content would affect the fuzziness of the leaves, good thought. And maybe gender has something to do with it? I'll try to say this politely :-). For ladies, TP is often used for #1, and 'lady part' tissues can be as delicate as the esophagus and throat. I've only ever seen this use of mullein recommended by men, and then obviously it is used for #2 .. I've never used mullein as TP, I was warned not to by my (female) teachers for the reason I give above. Considering Quaker and Amish ladies who were not allowed to use make-up rubbed mullein leaves on their cheeks to redden them, well .. Personally, I consider it more practical to carry a little paper TP and bury it along with the waste (and/or make sure to "go" before heading out, although that's not always possible when camping). TP biodegrades just fine. As foragers we always carry a pack, anyway.

Yeah, I'm glad to be away from that nasty woman. I have many stories of her but I digress. I never thought about the sensitivity of that region when it came to this, that makes so much sense now. Thanks for pointing that out! I think the reason males talk about it is because it's also referred to as "cowboy toilet paper" Historically there were few women in the cattle rustling trade so I assume it just gained favor for men. I agree that TP will biodegrade just fine, heck it barely lasts with any water on it, so carrying some is a good practice to have. I normally carry nothing to wipe with as I always find something when I'm out foraging deep in the woods. I've used so many things I can't count them all. My most tedious though was weaving grass together for sheets to wipe with as there was no moss around, all the leaves were from last year and full of holes and there were no Sycamore leaves, one of my favorite leaves to wipe with due to size. Sorry, I could talk about wiping in the woods all day, I'm weird, lol! Thanks for replying Christine, I always love reading your comments!

First two plants are hybrids Hybrid means not organic I’m talking about it wasn’t put in this world naturally so don’t consume it . I’ll give it a thumbs down .dig deeper That’s enough watching this video
@TrilliumWildEdibles
@TrilliumWildEdibles 2 жыл бұрын
Hundreds of plants hybridize naturally, maybe you should dig deeper before saying such silly things. Also, if you want to avoid any plant that is hybridized you should also avoid any produce from the supermarket, any plant grown for food as they are all hybridized species. So basically you dislike a video because you lack knowledge while projecting your ignorance onto me. Here's one example: www.piketoplate.com/post/brassicas
