no doubt that ariana is one of the singers with one of the most consistent voices in the industry today. Singing 30 songs a night with lots of high notes and at the end of the show her voice doesn't seem tired.

@@RC-yj7dm She overall definitely has a great technique. You could have lower comfortable tessitura, and consistently hit your own upper belts (let's say E5 for mezzo-sopranos and F#5 for sopranos) but I don't think many mezzos are like that or singers in general, I could only think of Beyoncé, plus Beyoncé's technique is heavier than Ariana and she is more support-focused rather than ease/mixing. There are even a lot of light lyric sopranos in the industry, Camila Cabello, SZA, Katy Perry, Billie Eilish, Melanie Martinez, Halsey, etc. but they are just far not as good as Ariana.

EXACTLY!!! Adele is not as good a vocalist as Ariana, but people don't criticize her, because her songs (romantic ballads r&b) are considered more "mature" and "refined". Exactly! That also reminds me of a time when Gaga was considered an average pop singer back in the early 2010s, even though she had done multiple impressive acoustic performances that showed her vocal chops. And then came her "Cheek to Cheek" era and her tribute to the Sound of Music (as well as her subsequent eras) and suddenly people begin to appreciate her vocal prowess. The genres and styles these artists choose to perform in definitely affect how people think of their overall talent and artistry, which is kinda sad because it implies that most people have this notion that everything related to pop music is mediocre and not worth checking out, despite the fact that there are a handful of incredible artists making pop music today.

It wasn’t until the dangerous woman era where I slowly realized she is a great vocalist for contemporary pop music and then both the sweetener and thank u next eras came in that sentiment confirmed this. That's not your opinion, that's just a straight up fact. Many articles were published by reputable magazines and musical professionals have said that Ariana has infact reinvented pop around 2018 when music industry was more into hip hop/rap music. They credited Ariana as the only one who reinvented pop with her own hint. She's amazing. Her musicality and impact in such a short time is so impressive. Not many people can say that they started to influence people/other artists and the music industry as a whole at such a young age and with a short career.

I read a comment somewhere that "Break Free" might be the most vocally diverse EDM song to sing or something along those lines, b/c EDM songs almost always focus on the beat, but Zedd and Ariana made sure her vocal prowess was still there. Ariana's first 3 albums really are vocal heavy albums. i think she did that to secure a place in the industry (just like what Taylor said to Miss Americana Docu "me not writing my song, i wouldn't be here", or same as those lines), and for ariana it's her vocals. after DW she did slow down and have more chill songs but it also kinda her biggest challenge. like i love her but im over with those rnb/trappy beats. hope she be going back with ballads/jazz in AG7. 🖤

objectively talking, ariana has definitely the talent of one in a million. her extensive 5-octave vocal range, her vocal abilities and agility, her vocal style of mixing pop music and theatrical broadway-type-of voice are insanely pure and show-stopping. she definitely is one of the best in the music industry at the moment, and her legacy is already marked. also, she is not the best. her technique, even though it has improved over the years, is not really good. not to mention she has had some little vocal declining over the years… luckily she could get better from them, but they were still there. in my own opinion, ariana is the greatest musician and vocalist of this time. unlike other monster and over-the-top vocalists (like mariah, whitney and celine -who are better technically talking-), her music is variated, charming and never necessarily the same. she knows how to dance and act too. she is the complete performer. i love her and am glad to state i am part of those who appreciate ariana grande’s talent in its most pure and biased way.

It's because the way we stan vocals were using that term is completely made up, none vocal coach will ever refer to support as yall (including myself in the past) do. in general, it's the quality of the sound that matters. it's just ridiculous that Ariana can do such crazy things like belting up to Bb5 almost for an entire tour, and not losing her voice, and still say she has a terrible technique. None vocal coach has ever mentioned a problem with her belting/mix technique, other than is not as powerful as they like, but they still say is clear, healthy, and consistent. Of course, she´s not perfect, things like her breath control are poorly developed, but she has still time to improve, and she constantly does it, before her lower register was not existing, but nowadays, she can go down to F3 consistently, and she doesn't get breathless after two minutes.

I agree with this video. She gets compared to vocalists like Mariah and Celine and she's simply not on their level. Another problem is the music that she sings. She doesn't have an iconic song that will be sung decades from now like Hero or My Heart will Go on (the best she has is God is a Woman). She sounds better when she sings Broadway so if she incorporated that more than into her music then she'd be more appreciated as a vocalist by people who aren't her stans.

Not only I find Ariana kinda cute and funny, but the vocals she delivers are just fire 🔥 Some issues that she needs to improve with is breath control, which kinda sucks honestly. She can sing 1 breath in studio and does 6 live. Which can be harsh in her lower register and the consistency and support are inexistent when she is out of breath. Which makes sense due to her shows being vocally challenging + dancing Also in riffs and runs she uses too much jaw wobbling/tension. Which can really affect her jaw movement.

I love Ari’s sound! Great voice! POV is one of my fav song right now, I sing it just to do her runs. Love how Mariah has been her biggest influence! But I really would love for her to have a better technique to do them. She uses to much her lower jaw to move her sound, instead of her instrument. Is not bad to do this sometimes for sound effects but as much as she does it can put to much strain in her voice that eventually can harm her. Apart from that, she is one of the best voices out there.

Note Changes, creativity: ohhhhh just glad you put DWT performances, this tour is SO underestmate and have one of the bests note changes Vocal agility; riffs and runs: she doesn't even try, and when she does, she does it perfectly, like her "problem's" B5 run Consistent upper belts: Her strenght and not even her best examples, when she's doing private concerts shes way more confident and relaxed (ofc), idk if you know this show but yall should check her private show at LA paris back in 2015 and Le Trianon back in 2016 kzbin.info/www/bejne/hpWQZXaurJWpjZo Top-notch vibrato: always a point for me, her vibrato on mid belts are so perfect Lower register: ppl always say this is her weak register but they dont realize she's not just a soprano, she's a REALLY HIGH light lyric soprano, her F#4 have the same sound quality that Mariah's D4, with means Ariana's D3s would be like Mariah's Bb2s on Mariah's voice Gorgeous falsetto: Well, for me is no doubt she have the most consistent and conected falsetto in pop music and comparing to others vocalists too Closing Thoughts: People puts so much pressure on her as a vocalist and understmate her a lot, i fell like arianators are always putting her "higher" bc we literally saw every performance of her so we know what she is capable of Let's just point it out, she's a POPSTAR that could be a vocalist, not a VOCALIST that is a popstar and there's a huge difference on that: she doesn't train

Ariana Grande Vocal Analysis (2024) Voice type: Light-Lyric Soprano Vocal range: C3-B5-E7 (4 octaves and 2 notes) Range with the most consistent quality, comfort, and technique: F#3/G3-D5-A5 At best: F3-F5-C6 Lower register: Low notes are bright and clear and have a good projection up to G3 consistently and F3 at best. Quite surprising for someone with a high tessitura considering her high sitting voice. However, she loses consistency, projection, and becomes airy and weak F3 and below. Mid-belts and mix: Mid belts are surprisingly strong for someone who frequently utilizes a heady mix in her belts. Her approach in her mid-belts during her later years (2019 onwards) is more balanced compared to her honeymoon era (2014-early 2016) where her approach is more heady and dangerous woman era (late 2016-2017) where her approach is chestier. She has good control over her mid-belts and it is more balanced, consistent, accessible, and more tensionless than people assume resulting in an open, free, well-projected, and controlled sound consistently from G#4 to D5 especially from Bb4 to C5 at her best. She definitely improved this part of her voice over the years. Upper-belts/mix: As a soprano like her, her ease and control in this area are good. She may not be the very best and the pinnacle of upper-belting out there, as some of her diehard fans tend to believe, but her consistency and stamina in this area is no joke. Although not consistently, she produces the best and balanced quality from Eb5-F5. As she goes higher beyond F5, she tends to sound thinner but still often avoids straining and too much tension up to G#5 (her signature upper-belting/mix note). However, she loses consistency when she reaches A5 and above which can sometimes be prone to tension, although this doesn't happen much as she was still able to possess a decent quality of mix up to Bb5 especially in her be my baby and breathin performances most of the time. This ease and consistency in her upper-belting range is due to her heady approach with her mix and mixed-belts. Nowadays, she utilizes a more balanced approach (balanced head and chest mix) to her upper-belts/mix especially in her thank u, next and yours truly era. This balanced approach is evidently showcased especially in her sweetener tour and 2023 yours truly 10 year anniversary live performance where she produced a decent but balanced mix. Although she has improved this part of her voice over the years, it has always been consistent in quality and technique with minor flaws and inconsistencies. Upper-register (head voice and falsetto): Contrary to popular belief, Ariana utilizes her head voice just as much as she utilizes her falsetto. Her falsetto is probably one of the best that pop music has to offer. It is polished, smooth, controlled, and easily accessible. On the other hand, her head voice is also good and is consistently well-coordinated and connected up to A5. Performances such as moonlight, thinkin bout you, be alright, get well soon, and many more including song covers such as no one mourns the wicked and I wanna dance with somebody showcases her control and consistency in her head voice. She may not possess the best and most developed head voice in the music industry, but she can still keep up. Her head voice possesses a bright, strong, and roundness quality consistently up to F#5 and sometimes up to A5. However, her head voice can sometimes sound airy which limits her true potential. Further analysis with her head voice after the wicked (2024) movie will come out with her role as Glinda the good witch. Vocal Agility: This may be the vocal skill she possess that has consistently improved over the years. She may not be as good as the best riffers out there like Mariah Carey, Tori Kelly, Beyonce, JoJo, and many others, but her vocal agility is definitely above average and is an integral part of her singing style. She can consistently execute vocal riffs and runs that are precise, fast, and complex with good creativity and musicality. The only downside is that there are few performances where she sounds pitchy and unstable and her vocal runs are sometimes repetitive. Lastly, during her early years, she tends to move her jaw a lot and fortunately, she got rid of that habit almost entirely. Whistle register: One of the best whistle register user in her generation. Able to control her whistle with ease and is also able to create vocal runs and vocal phrases with it. Vocal Dynamics: She has showcased vocal dynamics from time to time where she sang from pianissimo up to fortissimo. This is greatly showcased in her 2023 yours truly 10 year anniversary live performance. However, there are very rare cases of her showcasing crescendo and decresendo. Vibrato: Her vibrato is one of the most controlled and well-developed that pop music has to offer. It can range from soft/subtle to aggressive/intense and can even shift to it smoothly. This great vibrato is also evident throughout all her register especially in her belts and upper-register. Vocal transition: Able to easily and smoothly transition between registers from chest to head to whistle and with great control. Pitch: Her wide vocal range allows her to hit high notes and low notes with good pitch accuracy. She rarely gets off-key and goes sharp/flat. Vocal stamina: She is able to consistently perform in long periods and still able to maintain a decent to good technique and quality while doing a bunch of adlibs. The disadvantages she has with her stamina are the very few vocal performances where her voice got exhausted performing long periods and minor inconsistencies with some of her live vocal performances. Note: this analysis is based on an educated opinion and knowledge about vocals and music. Hence, this analysis is based on what I hear from the vocalist's live performances throughout the years. So feel free to politely disagree. Overall comment: She is not as bad as critics say she is and also not as great as diehard fans made her out to be. Her development is distributed fairly evenly throughout range with her mid-belts and upper-register being currently the most developed register. Her major weakness may be that she tends to sing beyond her range with the most consistent quality, comfort, and technique. Fortunately, notes beyond her consistent range are rarely strained, tensed, or weak. Lastly, her biggest asset may be her whistle register, musicality/creativity, vocal stamina, vocal transition, and vibrato. At the end of the day, Ariana Grande is rather a stylistic vocalist with an adequate vocal technique and skill to back up her singing style. She tends to change her singing style depending on the era that she's in.
