First time watching this . What is the nutritional content on seitan?

I've been watching many seitan videos the past two days.......your videos seem SO MUCH EASIER than the others I've seen.......the ones I was watching "washed" flour dough, to make seitan.......that seems like so much work!

ahhh yes that is a seitan making method I haven't tried yet! It definitely seems a bit more daunting than just using vital wheat gluten!!

Great recipe retrospective, and a good variety of recipes. I like the way you did the ribs, because I, too, hate jack fruit. Oh, and I made your tofu bites from a previous recipe compilation finally last week, and ate THE WHOLE BATCH the same day! Addictive! Thanks for posting : )

If you can manage it, find a place that does gluten by the scoop. It's so cheap, I use it as a protein shake. Means I just always have a tonne of gluten in the house, so I can make seitan whenever I feel like it. It's great :)

Out of curiosity why are you putting the nuggets in the oven after you've boiled them and pan fried them? I never put mine in the oven and they still taste great. Does it do something different to the texture when you put it in the oven? Just curious.
@PlantifullyBased10 ай бұрын
Just like to ensure the seitan is a bit drier inside and doesn’t have any gumminess which can sometimes happen. The pan frying is more for the breadcrumbs not the inside of them
@Pheexperiment10 ай бұрын
@@PlantifullyBased Oh okay. Yeah I just never threw mine in the oven and they were fine but I actually don't use bread crumbs either. Now that I'm trying to cut out a lot of carbs I'm going to have to figure something else out.. period. I'm currently watching another video of yours called meat from wheat lol. You have some really great recipes and I can't wait to dive into them. I'm going to have to get your cookbook.

@@Pheexperiment that's fair you can totally enjoy seitan without and breading! if you want to bread it in something look into this carringtonfarms.com/products/ground-lupin-bean-plain?variant=45450572792109 I think if you ground it up even further in a blender it could make a great high protein breading! Also, I don't want to overstep but please remember carbs are important. It is our bodies main energy source, so we do need them. hope this helps some and if you decide to get the cookbook thank you so much!

@@PlantifullyBased You are just a wealth of information! Thank you so much for the link. I tried to get in healthier carbs like oatmeal which is slower to spike glucose levels. Everything is so new for me so I'm still learning. I appreciate your response. Also, I plan on purchasing your cookbook this weekend.

Today I made the Mongolian Beef recipe for the first time. This Mongolian Beef recipe is the MOST OUTRAGEOUS seitan recipe I have. Awesome flavors. Hubby and I rate each new recipe as we eat it. Rating goes from 1 to 5. 1 Being the lowest enjoyment. 5 Being the highest enjoyment. We agreed on rating this recipe 10 out of a possible 5. I added more spices: oregano, cumin, paprika, coriander, thyme, sage, rosemary, and mushroom powder. I also use veggie broth instead of water. I discovered my mistake and what made too heavy a salt content in a recipe calling for low sodium soy sauce. Instead of soy sauce I always substitute Bragg Amino Acids in a 1:1 ratio, which is NO GOOD if a recipe calls for Low Sodium Soy Sauce. In this recipe I corrected my mistake by putting 1 tablespoon of amino acids in a 1/4 measuring cup and filling the measuring cup up with broth to get the correct amount of liquid. I served the Mongolian Beef with Jasmine rice made with veggie broth, lots of garlic granules, lots of ginger powder, and a dash of Herbamare seasoned salt. I doubled the sauce quantity, and wished that I had tripled it, we loved the extra sauce dribbled over rice. I tightly wrapped half of the steamed dough and will soon make it with triple amount of sauce. Fantastic recipe.

@@PlantifullyBased So far, I've made the seitan steaks which is recipe #1 in the video "Mock meats like you never had before". RATED 5 STARS. Waiting to be made is your recipe for chicken cutlets in the video "6 Seitan recipes you'll love'. I no longer try recipes that contain ingredients I don't regularly use. Here in Puerto Rico it's so hot all year long that everything has to be refrigerated. Hubby and I have 2 refrigerators in which a LOT of space is devoted to my spices and seasonings. So much so that I have contemplated getting another fridge just for my spices and seasonings, which would be okay if we were wealthy and had a large kitchen. My limitations dictate which recipes I try. Oh yes, I also made your Tofu Steaks which were very good. However having recently discovered seitan, I'm concentrating on finding a few outrageous seitan recipes to enhance our meal options. Thank you, thank you, thank you so very much for the incredible enjoyment Plantifully Based has given Hubby and I at mealtime. PS: I don't press tofu, I rinse tofu in fresh water, cut it into pieces, place the pieces on a rack inside my stainless steel baking pan, and slow bake it for hours on a very low heat, essentially drying it out. By starting tofu when I wake up, it's perfectly dried by the time I'm ready to start preparing the meal of the day. Be well, and stay strong and safe. May peace, kindness, and compassion soon become the law of the land, my fingers are crossed. 💙💜💙
