Just a heads up, people with disabilities often really dislike being called “inspirational”. Obviously you mean well, but it’s like calling anyone inspirational for just living their life regularly, it feels kind of weird. Hope that makes sense! :)
@JustsomeSteve
@JustsomeSteve Жыл бұрын
It's easy to say it's inspirational, mostly out of pity. But you would have done the same because you have no choice other then try your best with the new circumstances. Just wait, most of us will eventually meet a life changing illness and we all have to live with it. And it can be brutal. That's what you don't see because nobody shows their weakest points. I know I live with a life changing illness since 2009 and it's hard and kinda destroyed my life but what can I do other than try my best. And you would do the same. So if she is inspirational to you, just know that you do have the same strength in you. Just hope it will never get tested by life.

@@briellec7173 people who live their lives regularly everyday whilst persevering always get called inspirational - single mother struggling with kids but providing, students from poor backgrounds excelling, etc. if anything, the coddling of them and deeming them unworthy sources of inspiration is weird. there is a difference between recognising an individuals perseverance through clear adversity, and condescendingly coddling and babying people for their actions

Suspected it was her immediately after seeing her, after seeing her body language and positioning compared to the other people, I was 85% sure. Although the other contestants couldn't see any of that. Knew it was her 100% After she started describing Raneryas dress and the dragon in such specific detail, no sighted person would have described it like that. She likely heard those specific descriptions either in detailed captioning for HOTD or the original book. It is really interesting how blind people consume TV and movies and I am glad those options are avaliable but it gave her away quickly.

@@nathaliezahran1940 the cape is gold though and the dress has a lot of gold details so honestly it’s more credible that she forgot the colour of the dress. I, as a person with low vision, appreciate this. The minute people find out i’m blind they go straight to, “oh you’re so smart and an inspiration”, when i’m just trying to live my life. It took the sighted people to be uncontious of who the blind person was to treat her as an equal. She and many others just happen to be blind and we’re just trying to live our lives. I am not an inspiration, i’m not overly talented at walking around, i’m just a teenager trying to get into college. I don’t want this to sound antagonistic, but it’s the reality that myself and many others are experiencing. Our eyes shouldn’t be seen as signs for autism, or mental delays. To a sighted person it may look like i have to work harder, and in some cases that’s true, but to me this is my normal. Sorry for my awful spelling

How low is your vision? Can you see things but very blurry? I'm pretty much legally blind without glasses and it's just getting worse. I used to not be able to see texts from a close distance, but now I can't even see objects from a close distance. I can't walk from one room to another without hitting something. It's like watching a KZbin video with 40pixels. But I see perfectly fine wit glasses and I'm allowed to drive.

I suspected her as soon as she said she associated red with fire. Fire in real life is rarely ever red, but people often describe red as “burning” or “bright” or “fiery” or abstractly illustrate fire as red in cartoons to get the idea of heat across, so if a blind person asked a sighted person to describe red to them I feel like they would say fire to get the feeling across even though fire isn’t actually red because they’re talking to somebody who uses feeling as one of their main options for taking in information. So if she were pretending to be sighted, she’d repeat what she had heard red is like from sighted people-red is like fire. But then she said she used to be fully sighted after she was revealed to be the mole so I guess none of my logic had any substance and that was just a lucky guess lmao.

I guessed her as soon as she said I am a sighted person in the beginning. Just some way she said it compared to everyone else. Idk if it was a fluke or if I'm like talented :o

Could be meningitis. She lost *most* of her vision overnight. I’m not sure what her story is and if she’s open to talk about it but meningitis is the most likely option!

The new rule isn’t fair when its THAT early, people still need the money, two people got out and you call that halfway? I would wait until there is at least three people out before putting this rule in place.
