perfect. Being thirsty until you find actually drinkable water (Being alone UNTIL you find people worth your trust) is better than drinking poison thinking it will satisfy your thirst even though clearly poison kills you instead of killing your thirst (it is better than being in company of toxic people to just have friends even if you know you will suffer instead of getting the true experience of friendship)

People assume I give them the silent treatment, when in fact I'm doing my best not to say anything I'll regret later. It's often manipulaters themselves that want to engage you in that toxic conversation to prove you wrong. They'll keep talking until you say alright, just to shut them up.

@@giyourgurt my therapist told me that it's better to be vulnerable and open about how you feel. If the other person really cares for you they'll listen and give you the opportunity to discuss whatever the problem is. Silence hurts, I'm on the recieving end of it now and it's really affected badly. I'd prefer that person just to be honest and open and engage in dialogue, even if what they have to say initially is hurtful. Prospecting is very important. If someone continuously asks you uncomfortable or even controversial questions that catch you off guard, it is not because they are a weird and “quirky”. It’s because through questions that cross your boundaries, they’re trying to see how defensive you are. I had a guy continuously ask about very personal things whenever we were alone, after a while I noticed he was just trying to see how easy I would give in.

I’d love more videos on the manipulators or toxic people themselves, often times it seems like a picture is being painted that they’re all terrible human beings who are just out to hurt people, but a lot of times we aren’t. It would actually help and mean a lot if you were to make more videos not on things like “signs you’re being manipulated” but things like “signs you’re being manipulative” as not everyone notices and/or knows how to change.

So true, all of those who may be manipulative aren't exactly always practicing bad behaviors... though it is a very slippery slope in which they operate from. Almost every time I hear, "gaslighting," I think narcissism or narcissist. Manipulators are extremely good at changing the subject when the blame remotely sounds like it's pointed towards them. Being defensive and Blame Shifting may be the aftermath if the aforementioned happens. Silence (in some cases) is possibly the most powerful tool, when we become aware of whom we're dealing with.
@iambutterpuppy11433 жыл бұрын
As a manipulative person I thank you for that warning at the beginning of the video. I manipulate people into being happy, and venting to me, people tell me things that they wouldn't tell anyone else because I convinced them to trust me that much. However I would never spread those secrets or talk behind their backs about them because I care about them. I also do try to get a read on people, it is to decide if I should actually befriend this person or if they might pose a danger to me or someone else either emotionally or physically. I don't do anything to hurt others, or at least try not to best is humanly possible.

Another way that manipulators operate is to pressure you into accepting something - like coffee or some useless object - that you don’t want. If you stand your ground with polite refusals, they gaslight, alleging rudeness on your part. It’s maddening, as I can say from experience.

Human communication might be based more on winning arguments and getting your way than say reason and logic from an evolutionary perspective. So anybody like a teacher etc you just notice it more especially since they are an authority figure. Be weary of wolves in sheep's clothing in every situation but the teacher might just be doing their job which is to convince you the information is important right? That's why they get paid and if they're not entertaining like TV or you don't like the material...... Conflict

I think almost every girl I’ve had a crush on has done at least a few of these, I don’t think intentionally, but with my depression, low self-esteem and strong feelings for them it was easy for me blame myself when these things happened. Like getting the silent treatment, or having what I told them used against me, etc... maybe its just natural for some people to do this to others without any malice but also not realise the effect it’s having. I still don’t think they were “bad” people though, because I don’t think it was intentional.

One of the things I noticed about the most manipulative person I ever had to deal with was how, if they were backed into a corner, when people confronted them about their actions not being ok, even if it's an entire group simply trying to tell them that what they've been doing is wrong, they wouldn't even listen. When they knew the conversation wasn't going their way, they'd leave on the ground of "this conversation is over, we're not talking about this," drive away, and then immediately start twisting the narrative on social media, in front of the entire internet, they'd reopen the conversation, but with themselves as the victim, pulling in everyone who was just trying to talk to them as having "turned against them" and how they're "trying to make them look like the bad guy" and how that everyone reading this should "never listen to them. Never trust them. They're not your friends. I'm the only one you can trust." Garbage like that.
I feel like I do number 3 a lot out of an unconscious fear of not being smart enough myself, so internally feels nice to know something that others don't but in my perspective at the time I feel like I'm helping by teaching something. 😟😣

Teach them. The same way you’d teach someone a complex task. Only critique the most essential, relevant things at a given time, and never more than three at a time (unless they welcome it, then maybe five). If they digest and cooperate, good. You have a friend. Especially if they become more open after the fact. If not, they’re either offended or they’re genuinely manipulative. If they don’t cooperate, don’t wait on them. Learn independence if you have to, exert it if you already can. But in all things, take it one step at a time.

I think I'm a manipulator. You've made videos about these people before, and I've recognized these traits in myself many times. I'm not sure how to help myself, or what I can do to change. All I know is that I sincerely want to change. Any tips?

Look at other people who have said they recognized their behavior and changed because of the video, and ask them~?

Half of these things could be said about a lot of people these days. Using sympathy or a cause to better their own self interests and even get certain people hurt, or worse. Manipulators not only come in groups, but they can vary on how dangerous they are. This is mostly coming from experience as manipulators become more and more dangerous as they move up in so hierarchy and even spread their ideals and mannerisms to others. It’s like a fire, it spreads until it’s all consuming.

I will say ppl with ASD info dump often as a way to try and connect. It is intent behind behaviour that is important. A way to see is if they let you info dump back and will listen with interest. If they do it has nothing to do with establishing dominance or trying to take charge.
@pkmntrainerred42473 жыл бұрын
And yes manipulation, whether it can be justified or not, it depends on the reason behind and consequences of it. Also I've heard of conversation manipulation. Well if used correctly but not with ill will, it can help get useful information from individuals who may be hiding something....that must be uncovered............ tho I don't have pro-level idea of how to do it.

In my experience my wife and I have alot of these same behaviors but i don't believe either one is doing it n purpose or to control anything. I've done alot of work on myself and so has she, this programming runs deep from childhood, and it takes a lifetime to undo it.

(TM: vent pls ignore)My father told me that my mom doesn' t know how to love. Somehow I actually believed him. When i started to realize what he was doing to me, i got scared, and i learned everything about him, how to deal with him, out manipulate him. I lost myself in the process. What if i end up just like him, sad and bitter and lashing out emotionally, manipulating people and playing the victim.

I know you said that having these traits don't necessarily make you a manipulator, but I'm one, three, and six and I should really work of those. 😩
