I think from a marketing point it would be smart for it to be rank 5 6* cause then it makes it necessary to upgrade your 6* and makes the beginning of 7* feel more stretched out

thing is this makes short term. long term (example a year from now), 7 stars would make more sense. i'm personally leaning to the 7* only requirement being implemented - this incentivies players to do whatever content kabam will provide us to get that next title (i'm sure it will be f2p friendly but dam hard like EOP). this also creates a focus on 7 stars...which in the end, is the point of playing the game - reaching that latest end game content.

You raised a good points mentioning 5*s when 6*s came out. I feel like a good amount of the community have taken the “retire your 6* roster completely and only go for 7*” attitude. I have 12 r4 6*s and 2 r5s. My alliance doesn’t go hard in AQ and AW so r4 mats are attainable, but it is rather slow going. This is a game that’s meant to be fun. I’d rather rank up champs that I enjoy playing and will help me right now than play the “what if” game that we may be waiting months to get the answers to. That’s just my perspective.

Fair, kind of the same with me but I do try not to rank 6*s that are currently available as 7*s and the reason it doesn’t affect me much is because the current 7* crystal is really not that great.. 7*s are very powerful no doubt but the majority of champs you’ll likely pull are not that useful Obviously champs like maestro are exceptions he’s the only 7* I hope to pull right now

i still feel like it’s worth it to R5 6*s that probably have no chance at being a 7* (Herc, CGR, Spot, etc) but for majority of the other champs, taking them to R2 as a 7* is gotta be the way to go

I'm thinking the same - I could have carried 2 6* to r5 but instead took my 7*Hulk and 7* Bishop to r2 as neither need awakening. Now unless I get someone like Chavez or Titania my next focus will be to get my 2nd 6r5 in a top tier champ like kingpin, doom, herc, fury, zemo, absorbing man etc.

I really like the way kabam did 7* whilst I don't personally have one yet I genuinely think I will have a 7* rank 2 before a 6* rank 5 simply becuase it's going to be better for upcoming content

I was lucky enough to pull 2 7 stars out of paragons so now I have a total of 5. I use them everywhere over most 6*s Shuri, Guilly 2099, Mysterio, Joe Fixit, Dragon Man and duped Dragon man from the event. So I’m on the 7* train.

I'm in a similar boat. Awakened 7-star Falcon last night and debating whether to take him to Rank 2 or a 6* Skill to Rank 5, and it is probably going to come down to what is available for July 4th deals.

Herc, Hulkling, Galan, Adam Warlock Nimrod, OS, Warlock, F-Ant Omega, Apoc, AA NF, Valk, Zemo, Kate, KP Scorp, Spot, Torch, Cassie Doom, Rintrah, Absman. Maybe a few others I forgot. These are 25+ 6* champs that will not be in 7* pool anytime soon, if ever for many of them (Herc). So it's totally worth still doing R5s, up to 15-20 of them. Especially considering awakening abilities and sig levels, and also 6* ascension. Regarding next progression level, I am not worried. I met the conditions for each level before each of their releases. For Paragon I got my 3rd R4 a week before it was released. I'm confident that by the time new title is released, t6cc will be more available and I will be in a position to meet the requirements or very close to it. As a player, I am top10 Master AW, Top30 AQ and Celestial VI BGs. For now, I will continue to R5 my god tier 6*s. (Most recent was Adam R5)

I Still remember using 4* SW and Cap IW for lots of TB EQ in the Beginning, jJust because they were high sig and could do stuff that my 5 and 6* roster could not achieve. So Ranking up a 5* still felt like it was worth the investment over 6* rankups. But now I almost never use any of my 5*s. This is why, I believe the resources would be better utilised for 7* rank 2 over a 6* rank 5, since the difference is just 1 t6cc. 6* R4 would still be worth all the other resources since they are available reasonably quick. If something really required 6* to be rank 5 to clear, then just use boosters which are also available far more than they were when the debate was 5*/6*. TLDR :- Rank 4 OP 6* Champs, Use boosts if higher power level is required. Save T6CC for 7*s

You know where I stand, but for everyone who hasn't heard yet, I'm focusing on 6*s as long as I have 6* champs like CGR, Hyperion, Galan, Hulkling, King Groot, Knull, Apoc, AA, Omega Red, Red Mags, Rintrah, Doom, Abs Person, Hood, Juggs, Claire, Diablord, Longshot, Torch, Scorpy, Spot, iBomb, Cassie, Negative, Void, Spidey 2099, Mr. F, Thing, Kingpin, Valkyrie, Fury, Zemo, Kate B, Shang Chi, Ghost, Nimrod, Warlock, Guardian, Shocker, Ultron, Viv Vision, Fant Man, iDoom, Peni, or Omega Sentinel... Champs that are at least comparable to or in many cases much better than anything in the 7* pool (assuming the 7* is unduped or low sig). With ascension, 6* champs will still be relevant for ~ 2 years or so and after that point the rank up materials AND SIGS will be far more abundant to take up 7*s. At this point, I just don't think the meta has shifted, mostly because of sigs.

Said it best man! I feel the same way. People are swayed way too much by the higher star it’s crazy. It’s exactly what kabam wants from an immediate money making standpoint. But from a realistic standpoint in making the game last longer and thus leading to more money, 6 stars will continue to be relevant. Kabam is still working on ascension to make the 6 stars even better….why people want to rank up worse champs who you can’t awaken or give sigs to for years (unless you spend a lot or get lucky) just because of them being a little base stronger is beyond me. I will gladly rank 5 any of my rank 4 6 stars I have before even considering a rank 2 7 star…. And I also feel people are forgetting how strong 5 stars still are. They can still do a lot of content, 6 star rank 3s are much better than 5 stars and can do a lot of content rn including newly released act 8.2 with relative ease. 6 stars still have a bright future. People are thinking way too much

In my humble opinion, just like 6 star rank 2's are more expensive that 5 star r4 -> r5, they still save all the gold needed for the previous levels, as well as ISO and catalysts. I'm sure this does, or very quickly will be, apply to 7 stars as well, being that 6 star rank 4's are hard enough to get, let alone also paying nearly the same price just to take a 7 star to rank 2. And the potential of 7 stars is insane because not only do they have ranks left over, they have 6 ranks instead of five. Just because of the cost, simplicity, and greater payout of having more ranks to potentially strengthen your character even further, 7 stars have got to be the way to go.

Herc to rank 5 is a no brainer. He's never going to be replaced and he's going to save so many resources and stress in the long run. But not just herc there are so many deserving champs to go to rank 5. I suppose with how casual and slow your progression is you have to be more Conservative with your rank ups

Isn't there a promotion past rank 5. Something to help keep six stars relevant? I could of swore that was talked about. But as a few other pointed out the next title check point will likely include some kind of 7 star rank 2 requirement so 7 st star is better for end game

Yes. Kabam said "ascension" would be released in the future when 7*s surpass 6*s. They are still working on it

BG did mention Ascension as well. My feeling when Kabam announced 7* was that they were genuinly going to try to make 6* relevant for a longer time, whilst the 7* pool is being built up. Right now, it's difficult to know what they're strategy is really going to be. Ascension is not yet available and we don't even have any details on when it will be available, how it is going to work, and how attainable (or not) it will be. Meanwhile, as BG said, people were able to R2 some of their 7* champs right out of the gate. I have a suspicion that they will extend the life of 6* champs with ascension, but that they were being generous at the 7* launch in order to get people excited for 7* and spend on them now before realising that it's not actually that big a deal yet. I'm a long way away from getting a 7* yet, so it's a bit of a moot point for me. I'll just focus on trying to get more R2 and R3 6* champs lol

No one can match BG FTP experience in a unique way. Many of us FTP will still choose ranking 6 star for completing a content but its like a job not a fun anymore.

If you want to be in a high ranking ally then you should be ranking 7 stars because they'll have the highest prestige. If not, 6 stars that need high sig are worth ranking until the really really good champs hit the 7 star pool.

I have 5 6r5s and there’s not a single 7* I have that I’d rather have at r2 over any of them. Then again, I don’t have the best 7*s. If I had Hulk perhaps it would be a tough call.

I think one big point you missed is the quality of champs. You kinda mentioned it but not fully - For example.. There's seriously no way they're releasing the 7 star version of hercules for years to come, and in that time the 6 star at R5 will carry you through for a while. Hercules is the most obvious example, but if you look at the 7 star pool - they did not release almost any champ who is one of the best of their class. They only released great champs, but not the best ones.

Before 6stars came, I had only three R5 5 stars. CapIW, Medusa, and Claire. I became Cavalier with the help of these guys then I ranked 5 two more 5stars then I stopped ranking 5stars. Made no sense. I just ranked my 6 stars. Waste of resources.

I have Kingpin and Jessica Jones r5 6* and for my third was planing Biship but pulled 7* Sunspot and decided to r2 him over Bishop. I don't regret that decision 7* champs get such a boost it's worth ranking them over 6* champs

Just like when we got 6*s…you don’t rank a Joe fix it over a HT just because Joe is 7*…unless you have all the content 100%…6*s are still very much valuable for questing…unless you are in the prestige race…6*s are still valuable for AQ…n unless you are in top 20 aw…6*s stars still work. Point is many will try n ignore 6*s and spend units & money building a 7* roster when truth is for 75% of the player base…7*s arent needed yet
