6 Strut Icosahedron Tensegrity

This tutorial teaches how to build an icosahedral tensegrity using paper straws and rubber bands.
Materials needed:
Tape
Exacto knife
6 identical rubber bands
6 paper straws
Paper straws can be bought online or at arts and crafts stores.

Yesssss! I've been thinking about making one of these for years, and have saved up empty pen barrels in my junk drawer. Today was finally the day when I got all those pen tubes and tried to make this thing! Unfortunately, I was confounded and left scratching my head. But then I found your video! After gathering the materials, U tutorial made it easy to construct the 6 strut tensegrity model today, 082019, in less than 15 minutes. This easy inexpensive ($3) , tensegrity model build can help students grasp the difficult concept of how bones (struts) and muscle/fascia/cell/nucleus (elastics) interact when a force(s) is applied to the body and it compensates/distributes it. Consider the history of architectural designs and how planets interact. Note: I used scissors instead of exacto-knife Did not use scotch tape instead inserted straws with least possible pull. I started out with slightly loose elastic band after cutting straw to 4" lengths. So when band stretched after inserting both ends of straw it's tension was slightly loose. Hope this helps. Blessings.
