thats the first time im hearing the language , my ancestor from my dad side is Ilocano, Also my Mamang (Grandmother) from my dad side is a direct descendant of of well know ilocano, Juan Luna. that makes General Antonio Luna my great great grand uncle. also my other uncle was part of the manong generation, was taken by the americans to hawaii and work for the pineapple plantation and also probly forced him to fight the japanese during ww2. Now i am actually an artist for filming and visual arts.

Sometimes Ilocanos pretend to not be Ilocano in the states. Many times they don’t teach their kids the Ilocano language. I’ve met so many Ilocanos that only speak Tagalog. 😑. I hope our people can finally be more proud of who we are.

My parents migrated from the Philippines. It was my mother who decided not to speak Ilocano and in fact she wanted us to assimilate to american culture. I'M A PROUD ILOKANO American Army Veteran from ILOCOS SUR. I may not speak the language but I never forgot who I am. My skin tone is blessed by the sun and will always be.
