I agree, candles and flashlights are important. My recommendation is to buy different buckets as well. Buy an electric heater in case your gas boiler breaks down. Exchange phone numbers with your neighbors upstairs. I moved to Scotland in December 2022 from Eastern Europe. During the same week, on Christmas Eve, I noticed a water leak. Of course, nobody was home upstairs, and my landlord agency did not answer the phone. Water was leaking everywhere, and I had to turn off the electricity. I had to call the police, plumber, and locksmith to break into the apartment above and fix the issue.

Our mobile phone plans in Canada are getting better, but not that cheap. I get unlimited everything for about $50.

I am a Brit and to a degree am used to our winter period. This winter I decided to take vitamin D and I feel it worked. Could be psychological but I felt better. Worth trying.
