The most eco friendly thing you can do is use what you already have. Who cares if your tongue scraper is plastic when you got it so long ago and are STILL using it? That’s such a great example and I hope people will keep that in mind when it comes to sustainability 👏🏻👏🏻

I wear bracelets I've never taken off since I was a young pre-teen and hope to keep them as long as possible. Also, I used to hold on passionately to my clothes. I had timeless dresses that I adored. But my suitcase was stolen and so I not only lost those clothes but also handmade clothes my mother made when I was a child. My heart broke a little bit and now I am slowly reconstructing my wardrobe. I hope the clothes I now have will last a life time and much more!

The one and only thing that I'm almost completely sure I'll keep until the end would be the heirloom gold band my mum gave me two years ago. I literally never take it off and it brings me such joy

There is not really anything wrong with plastic if it's in items that you can use for a long time. It is often way more sustainable to produce than many other materials (such as metals). And it can also be the best material for the functionality of a particular product. Single-use plastic products, on the other hand, are indeed a problem especially when it comes to littering and micro plastics in the environment. So in many cases plastic indeed deserves its increasingly bad rep, but not always

I'm no longer the same size is as years ago, so much of my clothing has been retired and is off to the resale market. But, there's one item that I've had since 2009 (I was 10 when we bought it, I'm turning 23 soon). A classic Levi's trucker jacket, purchased on sale at Kohl's. It's the perfect darker-medium denim, and over the years has picked up light wear that gives it more texture and interest. I've also had many of the same shoes since I was a young teen (woven beige converse with a red striped sole, black faux suede fringe converse, floral high top converse, black faux croc formal block heels, classic brown riding boots) and some more recent shoe finds that will stand the test of time (I buy secondhand leather shoes bc it's still creating less waste than buying brand new, so I have plenty of older items in wonderful condition).

I had a plastic comb that had been with me since school days. When I moved with my boyfriend (now husband) 17 years ago, I took it with me. I'd never wanted to buy another one to replace it, even when it is one of those things I only own one though I'm not a minimalist. Last month it broke in half while combing my hair in front of the mirror. I still remember my funny confusion face, ha ha. I went to get another one and the first store I get into, there it was, the same exact light green plastic comb with wide teeth. I hope it lasts another 17 years or more XD

My list- a Peruvian artisan's silver basket woven style cuff bracelet from a museum store that has become my signature jewelry piece; a Brown Betty teapot that just means cozy to me; books - Foucault's Pendulum by Umberto Ecco, which my husband and I have read numerous times and loved so much that we retraced the main character's steps through the Musee des Arts and Metiers in Paris and Half Asleep in Frog Pajamas by Tom Robbins which instigated a very interesting correspondence between me and Mr. Robbins resulting in meeting him in person, an Albert Nipon quilted chain handbag that was my first serious handbag purchase and that my granddaughter has made clear goes to her and love letters from an old English boyfriend that just reminds me of a nice past relationship that had its day and that's just fine.

Scraping your 👅 OMG!!! How did I even live my life with out one of those before. I been using one (plastic) for over 20 years. I swear I can’t start my day if I don’t clean my 👅 I do it probably 10 times a day. I have not trash 🗑 I clean it with “efferdent” and warm water, efferdent is a oral bacterial cleaning tablets. I think that’s the main reason why I really don’t get sick and my partner move with me few years ago and started to use it and love it. He also has not got sick since living with me and he said part of my vegan cooking and the scrapper.

I really thought about what would I keep forever 🤔 I came to the conclusion, that I actually don‘t know. I like a lot of my stuff, but wouldn‘t mind getting rid of it. I don’t wear jewellery or have gotten things from my grand-/parents. As I don‘t earn a lot of money, I sometimes can‘t invest in good quality things. A few years ago, I would have mentioned my katana sword as my favorite thing. But I got it from my ex boyfriend, so not only happy memories with that. I now feel kind of sad, that I don‘t love anything of my stuff 😔

Hm, this is probably random, but an autographed drum head I caught at a concert, my great grandmother's wedding ring, and my Zojirushi rice cooker. The first two items fall moreso into the "personal things that bring me joy" category, but that rice cooker has been a game changer as far as meals go. ^_^ I always get perfect sushi rice, but it's also great for making risotto, and I have been using it like a slow cooker as well. I will be dragging that rice cooker around until it quits or I'm gone. 😂
