very good guide to the area, for those who might have only been once or twice, lots to do for sure, but you did a great job covering most things. would for sure agree on the seafood in murrells inlet, and also in NMb and little river, and for sure calabash, nc. there are so many great choices for local places to eat vs chains or so called calabash type, lol. something also to mention for the folks that like to golf, putt, putt, there is Topgolf in myrtle beach, its a combo of golf and putt putt, anyone can do this, its really fun, and you can make an afternoon of it or evening. something different. we are 20+ years of actually coming to NMB, we don't travel to central MB much, but we like to explore all the close little towns, so cool for the history, and things like that. if you love the area like we do, another cool place is the Horry County museum, and farm. really neat. that is in conway, sc. its free, but always great to leave donation. plus they have the L.W. Paul Living History Farm, just shows some of the history of the area, and county. thanks for your video, really good, just wanted to add some things for ya as well. hope that was ok??
@MeansToTravel2 жыл бұрын
Of course, thank you so much for adding your tips as well! Always good to have some local insights! I had never heard of that museum or farm, so I'll have to make some time to check it out next visit!

Myrtle Beach really resembles the Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia, same highrise holiday accomodation along a sandy coastline. Big shopping malls and different rides, and there's even a Ripley's Believe it or not!

Can this be done by walking? Or should someone be getting ready for a lot of Ubers?
@MeansToTravel2 жыл бұрын
No, unfortunately it’s not possible to do all of this walking because attractions are spread out. I recommend budgeting for Ubers, bringing a car, or getting a rental car. 🙏🏻

My wife is an engineer in SC and can confirm that’s not sewage going into the ocean. DHEC would have a field day with that.
@MeansToTravel Жыл бұрын
The swashes along the beach have stormwater runoff, which actually is a type of sewage. That said, raw untreated sewage was accidentally dumped into Withers Swash in 2016, and yes the local politicians got in trouble and there was media coverage. 🙁

Where are sewers?! We’ve never been to Myrtle Beach and I’ve never heard of that at other beaches. I’d definitely like to not be in those areas. 🥴
@Lavenderplays77 Жыл бұрын
One correction to your video concerning "Calabash Seafood". Your video seems to suggest the naming simply comes from the town on the border of NC. Whereas that is partly correct, the actual meaning of "calabash seafood" is derived from a distinct style that involves lightly battered, deep fried and freshly caught seafood, which is how the town of Calabash prepares it, hence the name. Simply suggesting that these restaurants are named calabash after the town is not fully correct without that context of how the food is prepared.
@MeansToTravel Жыл бұрын
Thanks so much for letting me know that! I had been told it was because of the town, so it’s good to learn this additional detail! I appreciate the clarification. 🙏🏻

The sewers don't dump on the beach. Are you kidding?
@MeansToTravel Жыл бұрын
Unfortunately, they do. There are a couple places in Myrtle Beach where the stormwater drains dump onto the beaches (which are groundwater sewers). There have also been a couple instances of raw sewage leaks into the Myrtle Beach water systems over the past ten years. A couple years ago, Myrtle Beach was named the dirtiest beach in South Carolina. That said, it's my understanding that all of this is being addressed by the city government, and in the meantime, there are often signs posted on the beach if bacteria levels are too high for swimming. 😕

Myrtle Beach needs to get rid of the bike and car weeks. I mean is that all you know how to plan for. 3 kinds of bike weeks. Mustang, jeep, old cars ect ect. Why can't you build an ESPN course Masters. And a stadium 🏟 to have bowl or playoff games for different sports. Imagine the people and revenue it would bring to Myrtle Beach. Not those OLD TIRED vehicle week things. Come into 2023 people. Legalize Marijuana. There, there's 10 Billion in one year to Build it all. Think about it. It don't HAVE to be a seasonal town. You just want it to be. Good luck

Hey there JJR, So, I actually choose not to produce b-roll only videos with voice overs because I personally don’t enjoy watching them (I personally don’t find that they build any credibility, trust, or relationships with the presenters). That said, a lot are popping up these days due to the availability of stock footage, so I’m sure you can find another KZbin channel that’s better suited for your travel guide format preference. Enjoy your trip to Myrtle Beach 🙏🏻
