That's the way it's meant to be pronounced. I'm from cork and I say it that way. Just because we shorten words and phrases due to laziness (probably), doesn't mean the way we pronounce it is correct. For instance, some people from where I live say fool like foul. That doesn't make it the proper pronunciation. Doubt that's due to laziness though

Great video! We were in Ireland in January. We stayed in Southern Ireland because we were there for our friends wedding. We also noticed the interest in American politics. They also love country music which I thought was interesting. For me the food was the biggest difference. It was amazing. Everything was very farm to table. Not like what we have here in America. The restaurants and pubs always had a board telling where they sourced their food. Even the bag of potato chips had the name of the farm/field where the potatoes came from! I can’t wait to go back. Next time we will make it to Northern Ireland.

- Accents - I'd say I could easily identify about 10 different Irish accents, narrowing someone's origins to about a 50 mile radius. Social class has an impact too. Galway is pretty neutral, and I've heard other foreigners who like it too. - Buskers are supposed to have licenses, and in busy places, have to book their spots - so the argument you saw was probably about that - Trump - My immediate thought when I see any American is 'Did they vote for him?' Can't help it! His antics take up a lot of bandwith in our media too - Clothes - I think Irish people wear relatively bright clothes compared to people in central Europe, where black, grey, and adventurous brown are everywhere. That said, when it rains so much, kinda dont need too much bright colours - And I'm 90% sure I got a haircut in that same barber's about 10 years ago, no lie Glad you enjoyed your trip!

You know there's 32 counties in Éire but generally each county generally has an accent but has different varieties of the accent. In Dublin there's 3 accents, North Dublin, South Dublin and the rural accent. Here in Mayo there's 4 accents. The East Mayo accent is very soft. North is a stronger East accent. Now South Mayo is very strong ( apparently I'm a South Mayo lad I don't here it but the other parts say we do ) we pronounce our words with an sh. So shtick shtone. And then West Mayo is a really thick version of the South Mayo accent. Also shtick shtone shtop Then there's Cork and West Cork which both sound different but similar. And each Ulster County sounds the same but different at the same time. Each accent in Ireland is unique to the location. We don't all sound like Leprechauns on acid. All of our accent as bearla devloped from our accents as Gaeilge. My accent when I speak irish is easier to understand compared to when I talk in English. Gaeilge is my preferred language though. Interesting that they didn't know there where different accents in Ireland but with them being from a country as big as America with states bigger than the whole country in both size and population it's understandable. Every county has a different accent and each one has different accents within it. Talk to a guy from inner city Dublin and a guy from D4 and you'll notice a difference, that's just one. With a good ear you'll know where a person is from down to the postcode sometimes.

Some slang idk too much I don’t say too much ( also this slang is mostly around Derry) What’s the craic?: how’s it going Mucker: friend Mate: well, people say this in England so y’ know And then the weirdest thing is... I say dude and I’m THE ONLY GUY IN IRELAND THAT SAYS THAT so some people think it’s while (really) funny OMG HOWD I FORGET THE MOST IMPORTANT OUT OF ALL: Aye: yes ( pronounced like eye except the first e is a half a) Edit: wow I wrote A LOT I hope people read this ;-;
