Great tips Mallory. Also, there is this idea for some brunettes or ladies with even darker hair, that you slap on some high volume developer mixed with bleach and in one application, you'll be the blonde you desire. Moving up levels from dark to light is a process, respect that process, because if you don't you could not only damage and destroy your hair, but you can damage the scalp. My advise, is never use developer that is greater than 20%, stronger developer only equals greater risk of harming yourself and damaged hair. Better to do a process of taking the color up in levels by stages. Purple Shampoo is NOT a toner. Toner is toner and purple shampoo is for cleaning the hair and minimizing brassiness. But when you do apply toner, after you've bleached to the level you desire, reduce the volume of the developer to 10% or less, its all that is really needed for the toner to take and to tone that hair.

Kevin Murphy hair products have drastically changed my hair for the better. It’s the most amazing stuff I’ve ever used. I was experiencing a lot of shedding & fallout after having Covid. Thankfully I have really thick hair but it was definitely noticeable that I was losing a lot. I started using Kevin Murphy’s plumping line & my hair did a 360. (If you have thinning hair you need this stuff! Especially Body Mass! Best leave in treatment ever!) All that to say, he also has a blonde line called Blonde Angel. If I ever decide to go lighter again (it’ll be a long time as I’m still scared to do anything that might damage it) that’s the line I’ll use. My stylist swears by it. So glad I invested in it. I finally feel like I have my old hair back. So grateful! Thank you for all of your amazing videos.

@@ImMalloryBrooke omg yes, the scent is heavenly! I took the plunge after your last hair video & I’m so grateful to you! I’ve got the plumping line, restore mask, clear angel gloss, do over (omg how did I live without it before?!) & the thickening blow dry spray. Apparently he just released a blow dry wash & rinse! Will definitely try those at some point because who doesn’t need more heat protection?!🏆🎉

@@kaseygoss yes totally agree about the KM Plumping line and of course, Restore! Blonde Angel is a game changer when needed, and the smell is to die for! I wish their packaging was a little less expensive though. I have my license, but even then, the marketing is so much of the cost…wish they would just focus on making amazing products and keep the packaging as bare bones and minimal as possible instead of their current display-focused approach.

Your tips on this are solid. Thank you. I was about to go platinum again, and you reminded me of all the work it is. I think I'll go light auburn instead. I loved your brunette, but blonde looks incredible. 🙂

Hi Mallory one brilliant tip for Blondies is to have after salon treatment any home Acidic Treatment after, which will seal the cuticle, Joico Cuticle Sealer, Redken has Acidic Treatment even a last wash with Apple Cider Vinegar & water will do the trick... is the SAVIOUR for Blondes hands down! Redken has also a Purple "MASK" that is been reviewed as also great! And last but not least is Pre SHampoos, leave any mask, conditioner, or oil before you wash and it will do also wonders in damaged hair!

Your hair looks amazing! Love the color. Thank you for the advice. I am usually blonde and did a reddish-brown demi-color (similar to what you had) but I always miss my blonde.

Maybe this is a dumb question, but I’m thinking of going a little blonde for the first time and the only heat tool i ever use really on my hair is my blow dryer. Is that considered something I would need to avoid the first week? Idk how I’d survive without drying my hair bc it’s so thick and takes hours to air dry lol

I love bumble and bumble because of your recs! I had no idea they had a purple shampoo! I'll definitely be trying it. Thanks Mal:)

Great video!! As a fellow bottle blonde, I can attest to all the advice you've given. Being blonde is pricey, in addition to paying for foils, there's a lot of maintenance costs to keep the colour looking good and also keeping your hair healthy under the circumstances lol. I'd like to add that folks can do root smudges themselves at home. I learnt how to do it during the pandemic when the salons were forced shut and has saved me coin on being blonde. There's lots of youtube videos on how to do it and it is much easier than trying to do foil highlights on yourself. I just use 9 n or cool dye mixed with volume 10 or 20 solution (available at sally's) and put it on your roots in sections (I get my husband to do the back of my head lol). Folks can also tone hair themselves at home with the right dye and volume 10, but I am personally usually too lazy to do it even though it takes way less time than root smudging since you put it all over your hair and leave it on for less time than a root smudge... Another game change tip for restoring the health of my hair after dying it is to use the redken extreme shampoo for dyed damaged hair in the blue bottle. It is the best I have found for softening the hair and making it more silky and less dry and tangled. I still need to use a spray-in conditioner spray to detangle sometimes, but don't use as much.

I have loved the bumble and bumble shampoo and purolgy conditioner for awhile now. I’m ready to go auburn now! I’m so excited because I’ve been blonde my whole life! Your hair always looks adorable! I’m having a hard time after Covid…I lost a lot of mine and it’s no fun! Take care.

I have very fine straight hair and have had struggles with making it look other than dull and flyaway. I recently moved and by the 2nd shampoo my hair had some shine. I figured out the water made a big difference at my new place - the water is softer or perhaps has less problematic minerals in it. Knowing what I know now if I have the problem again will get a shower head with a replaceable filter in it. I'm considering highlights in my light ash brown hair to brighten the color and appreciate the shampoo recommendations.

My hair is naturally thin and very fine, så no purple shampoos works for me - so i buy any shampoo i like the best and then use the Milkshake purple leave in conditioning foam in my towel dry hair. Its not like a regular styling foam, since it has no hold or crunch its basically a very light weight leave in conditioner and its amazing!

Great tips. Low and slow, small foils, lots of patience, bleach and money! 🤣 I stopped bleaching cause of post partum hair loss and now I have healthy hair again I don’t want to re bleach it!

I have white hair, then had it colored a very light shade of blonde. But too light in my opinion. It was an organic color. Now it’s time for another color. I want to go a darker blonde. Is this a high maintenance situation? I don’t plan on using heat tools, want a wash n wear haircut. Thanks for all your tips.
