Step 1.) take a nice big #2. Step 2.) Dynamic stretching. ABC’s are a great place to start.

1. Glute activation stretch (glute bridge, clam) 2. Hydration throughout the day 3. Fuelling, Meals takes (2-3 hours before run or bring some snacks) 4. Warming up (start by walking to a gentle jog) 4.5 (optional). Leg swings (do some leg swings after warmed up, usually for a hard run ahead) 5. Respect the ankles (gentle light ankles circles, calf raises and some walking)

Heavy kettlebell swings is single leg glute bridge tenfold. If there's only one exercise to do besides running that benefits the act of running then the swing has no equal...... And your glutes will engage even if you don't want them to !!

I wake up at 6:30, down half a pint (water, not beer), have a poop, get my gear on and go for it. No food. No warm up. No stretching. Best way to warm up is to run at a slow and effortless pace. Why waste time. When I get home, I shower, drink a 800kcal smoothie, and get to WFH. Rinse and repeat x6 days a week. What works for one person isn't the same for everyone else. I'm not a financial advisor.

Thanks so much to Mark and the team for all the helpful info.from this and prior videos. I'm in the process of following a couch to 5k program to help with my overall fitness and general health. My pre-run includes calf raises and static stretching of my calves as well as leg swings and 5 minutes of fast walking.

I usually stretch before the squats.. Stretch quads and warm up ankles as well.. Also calf stretches as well to avoid cramps and keep yourself going. Lessens lactic acid build up by a bit as well.

personally, whether its a short 5k or 10 miler to 1/2 marathon - I always run first thing in the morning therefore hydration the previous day is key, I also intermittently fast so I run on an empty stomach therefore my last evening meal has to be bang on nutritian wise. Calve raises, glute bridges and walking lunges (as part of a 5 minute walking warm up) pre run then off I go. Rinse and repeat in the 5 minute walking cool down followed by static stretches. Not sure if it's right but works for me being a tall heavy runner (6'4 and 250 lbs)

My body needs a mile to warm up. If I go out at 6:30/mile pace I’ll be burnt out within a few minutes. But if I slow jog the first mile, then do a dynamic mobility warm up for about 10-20 minutes, I can then begin my run at my 6:30-7:00/mile pace

3) not necessary if you are on Keto and, by the way, in your video you show meals with lots of carbs ? Are you serious ? It looks like you haven’t heard of glucose, glycemic index and that carbs are NOT necessary for our body… I am amazed that a serious site like yours is not up to date in such matters. I do intermittent fasting on Sundays ( 20 hours ) and I run 12 K at 1 hour and 4 minutes ( trying to break the 1 h mark ) and I since I went Keto, my endurance and overall performance has increased greatly. Best regards FRanz

I would do most of the warm-up exercises in the video but would sometimes throw in a few lunges too! Would you say that for someone who runs regularly (5 days a week), there could be less emphasis placed on the extent of your pre-run warm-ups?
@pavelclaudiopatino4192 жыл бұрын
@Ken Coogan, congrats on your dedication to excercise. 5 days a week it's tough. Never put less emphasis in pre and after warm ups. On contrary, make them the MOST important part of your rutine! Don't matter uf you run so often. Warmup pre and after are like religión, like a sacred thing. I also run 5 days a week, average 7KM every time. I had not had any injury. I am very conciencious about warmup pre and after!! I enjoy running a Lot to jeopardize it by skipping warm ups!! Good luck

Elektrolytes are minerals, like magnesium or salts, which you loose whilst sweating. You can buy drops or powder, which contains them and then add this to your water. Tastes nice as well😉

alternative list: 1. You forgot to tell everyone you go for a run today 2. You didn't prepare your motivational playlist 3. You forgot to charge your Garmin 4. You didn't turn your Strava on 5. You forgot you're fat and can't actually run 6. You've realised too late that it was better to stay on the couch today
