Mtb needs gearboxes. I feel like derailleur shifting has reached the limit of its development, the next innovation needs to be something internal that doesn’t get hit by stuff while riding.

Would love to see gearboxes take off. Unfortunately it sounds like their major setback is drag...So unless there are some major breakthroughs real soon it could be a while.

Is using the derailleur hanger alignment tool correctly also dependent on your rear wheel rim being true?

To a certain extent yes but your wheel would have to be pretty far out of whack to end up affecting the overall alignment of the hanger. Especially when you consider that you can rotate the DAG most of the way around the wheel.

Just go with the AXS.

A few of those tips are still very much relevant to AXS - the b-gap tips in particular....But we agree, if you can afford it, that's the way to go.
