That video list is golden. Also I love the color palette of your game

Thank you so much, Magokaiser! I'm still testing out different palettes and am currently using a slightly modified version of: lospec.com/palette-list/lospec500.

It’s interesting to hear that AI’s being helpful. AI is the focus of my day job: we build AI tools for business but also build our own to help with our own development. Tbh, it’s very rarely useful in that latter context, at least to me. It’s interesting that it’s useful as a tool to discover existing, documented things that may have been hard to find through traditional methods.

Yeah, Agreed. For a self-diagnosed dyslexic, it is wonderful to quickly arrive at short answers and then be able to continue searching in a very targeted manner. Old fashioned big documentation doesn't work with my brain

I have actually found it to be very helpful to push my game development forward. Coding is the weakest part of my wheelhouse but I do understand the concept of state machines , signals, in the core nodes. So I found a statement machine approach that made the most sense to me and used a I to expand on the various states of that state machine. Sometimes it's hit or miss, but for the most part with enough instructional guidance upfront it has been surprisingly accurate. I know the basics of scripting to get an idea when AI is going off the rails but I will admit that allowing AI to do the heavy lifting without knowing how to code some of this stuff, yourself can quickly stifle your growth and make you more reliant. But back on the positive side, AI has allowed me to experience some fun watching my idea come together. I plan ongoing back and studying parts of my little project to make sure i'm taken in as much information about scripting as I can.

This is very handy to have. While starting small I've always encouraged to start with 5 basic game dev tutorials. Learn to create these: snake, pong, space invaders, pac-man and tetris. They are simple and very effective to learn most 2d development. Just my opinion. And thank you for yours.

I really liked the editing of this video ! I can't believe it's been 6 months already since you decided to get back at developping your game !

I thinks its closer to 5 than 6... but 6 made a better title

Keep up the work! Good luck on your game(s)! I started my journey last year, but I'm only on month 2 as a full-time indie dev. I'll be curious to see how my top tips differ from yours when I'm at 6 months.

Great video man , great advice and suggestions. love your take on AI ."treat it as a brainstorming buddy that never gets tired of your sh.." 😂sometimes I think that it will just tell me " just give up and leave me alone please" lol . Game dev is pretty niche where I am from , and me being kind of a hermit doesn't help. so AI has been great at pointing me in directions to find solutions. It is important to note that we should use AI as a compass, and not as a crutch.

Ah thank you, Deeraghoo! But indeed, I won't fuel your passion for game development, but it can make things easier sometimes.

super enjoyed the video! was wondering if you had any advice for myself and other greener gamedevs looking to post a game on steam on how to overcome the feeling of "no one's going to wanna pay $3-5 for this". Thanks and keep up the great videos!

To be honest, I am as green as you are regarding that subject. I will def cover it once I feel like I got something to share about it. After I finally moved house, I am hoping to speed up the development of my game. Thank you for the compliments!

Just want to point out that a roadmap has not just what youve done but where you plan to go next. In this case, you can talk about game dev milestones like you just did but also say things like "i plan to have 3 fully 'playable' levels by x time; or i want to have 50% of enemies designed; etc". Generally youll list them in order you want to tackle them. For example which ill try to link in discord later- planet crafter had a roadmap where they had things like lore then procedural generated wrecks then multiplayer then biomes then vehicles. Now let me be clear, this was for a game that had entered testing and early access. Since you are still in dev your roadmap would be more akin to what features youll work on adding next. But thats just my opinion about roadmaps lol. Shouldnt be too long before beta level 1 is complete.
