This is exactly what I am doing right now. I am marketing to people whove never purchased and have no trust yet . So I'm trying to educate , bring value and trust digital to persuade them to pre order ahead. I don't know how long it will take either.

This video includes literally all the key points so that you win before you begin. this is pure gold to someone with a great product that doesn't want to sell out and borrow money from people who don't care about the end users the way the creator does. This way is riskier and harder but enables the users to drive the product and keep the creator in the drivers seat. Creators need to STOP borrowing money! Any good product in the modern landscape can be funded by the end-users and can resist buyouts and mergers.

Hey Paula, I ran pre orders when I relaunched my shoe brand earlier this year. I created my store as normal and sold the shoes as I would if I wasn't running a pre order i.e. as products on the site but I made it very clear that it was a pre order by including the words "pre-order" in the product title and also including a disclaimer in bold at the top of the product description to let people know when they would expect their order to be dispatched. Also, I still built a mailing list too before my pre orders went live.

I am running a pre-order campaign around October and I have 1 problem with lead time. In fashion industry, is 6-7 months wait for customer acceptable? My fabric is a premium fabric made by our local artisans and since it is slow fashion, it can take 2-4 months to finish for them. Sewing factory lead time also varies depending on schedule but I would like your input in this. Thank you so much.

I think it depends on you and your product. I ran pre orders for about 3 months because the lead time for my production was around this length of time. I know some people that do pre orders for one month or less as well.
