I'm Navajo. I have quite a few skinwalker stories also my grandma is very into traditional stuff. And she taught me alot. THERE'S A LOT BECAUSE OF EVIL PEOPLE AND WITCHCRAFT. It's really cool/interesting/scary to know about what people can do with witchcraft. My grandma used to live DEEP IN THE RESERVATION she basically lived off the grid. And she told me very scary stories of her when she was a child. My grandma has a lot of encounter's with skinwalkers. Hearing her stores where interesting.
@GingeRenee Жыл бұрын
Wow that’s amazing, I love this sort of stuff. My children have Navajo and Apache in their blood. My great grandmother was 100% Native American from a tribe in Maine, I can’t remember the name of the tribe though. Although I only have a small amount of native blood in my veins I feel very connected to that ancestry and have had a few amazing experiences that I feel blessed to have experienced. My friend who is Native American her native name is black feather and she was told by spirit to give me a black feather she had. I was going through a rough lonely patch in life. That feather would suddenly be emitting the sound of tribal chanting and drumming. It was only heard in the room where I displayed my feather. It didn’t come from outside, no tvs or radio were on and after investigating I could only hear it faintly in the room with my black feather. When I saw my friend again she was smiling and asked so what did you experience, I was like first how do you know and then told her. She said it was the ancestors letting me know that I am never alone and they are with me always. That was their way of letting me know they were in deed with me and it was such a comforting and blessing experience for me. It happened a few more times with that feather. Now with young kiddos having more Native American blood in their veins then mine I want to find ways to reconnect us to the ancestors and their ways. I want to honor that and raise my boys to feel honored and respectful of the culture and connected to it strongly. Well thank you for sharing about your grandma. I think that is so special and amazing. Anyways blessings friend on your journey!

I’m Hmong and our culture is very similar to Native Americans which is why I find it so fascinating. We have similar stories for example growing up, I was told by my grandparents and parents to never answer any calling like when someone calls your name and you can't see them, especially, when you're out in the woods or any where other than home. This is a way for evil to trick you or luring you, if you answered you'll be giving them permission to follow you home or harm you. They can use the voice of someone you know. Also, we believe in shape shifters, how they can take on any shape or form.

@chickensandwich880811 ай бұрын
I'm Otomi, which is an Indigenous Mexican(Meshica) group, we have similar stories as well. Here on Turtle Island, which is our name for the Americas, it is common amongst other native groups that you don't whistle into the night. If you hear a whistle, you don't whistle back. You pretend you heard nothing.
@renatoovelar744210 ай бұрын
Im from Paraguay, we are descendants of the Guarani people. We are told not to whistle during the night cause it could attack “Karai Pyhare” (Man of the Night) a restless spirit that lurks in the hills, it could become your friend and grant protection if you give him tobacco and rum offerings. But if you disturb it (whistling, vandalising plants for example), oh jeez, I’ve heard countless stories of what it can do to that stupid person that dared to disturb him.

She said she would play up and down the rail road tracks , or ride her horse"Tarzan"..she said he was huge. She told me that her Mother (my Grand Mother), told her to NEVER ever answer "what" ever was calling her. She told me.."Moma said WHAT.. ....not who.

Lechuza's are pretty common tale where I'm from. The story behind them is that they are a special type of witch that turn into a bird like creature when they go looking for prey. They like to whistle in the night and stalk small children. If they go for adults, they mimic voices or even a crying baby to lure them away. If one is stalking you, you have to literally cuss and swear and get mad at it for it to go away. That and La Lorona are pretty common fears where I live.

As a Navajo myself, you cannot talk or even think about anything scary including the word "skinwalker." It is forbidden for most families and whatnot. I have a couple of stories about an encounter with one of them. If you're not Navajo yourself, you can't believe there is one or just can't say you believe them. You need to experience meeting one.
