Definitely helpful! Not really a scotch guy so never really bothered to look up the definitions of them all! Would definitely be interested in learning about the different regions of the Scotch worl like how Islay is know for being heavily peated.

Just to clarify: single grain (and, of course, blended grain) CAN be made from 100% malted barley, if it is not batch distilled in pot stills - Loch Lomond Distillery (to give one example) makes single grain from a barley mashbill run through their Coffey (continuous) still. Limiting myself to Scotch: roughly 80% of my current bottles are single malt, 7% blended malt, 3% single grain (average age 20, oldest 50), 1% blended grain (average age 18, oldest 35) and 9% blended Scotch.
