I read an article in Vogue that recommended using a size 9 needle on leather as it makes very small holes...it works great also used it on heavy vinyl.

Learning to sew on your own can become a lot when you get down to the equipment used and it’s supporting accessories. Having needles categorized do help especially when you show us fabric and materials they work best with. Now I’ll know what I need and when I will need it. Thank you for this thorough and understandable video. 🙏🏾🙌🏾

I got myself a second hand sewing machine at 53, wanted one for years but didn't have the confidence that i would be able to make anything.. Before I commit to make something I decided to go online and find someone to teach me. I've watched so many videos this few weeks and today I came across you, thankfully. I just feel like this is the one for me, fun vibe and full of useful info. I'm not disrespecting the others but I lost interest quite quick or napped haha. Can't wait to watch them all on my journey. In one video you explained so many things I was unsure of. Ta from a Scottish lass.

My 1034D serger worked fine on everything but 1 slightly thicker/stretchier workout shirt. Would stitch a couple inches then snap the lower looper. Switched to jersey needles, worked perfectly. Had no idea needles mattered in that way too.

Yes love this, 101 sewing needles. I been schooled, I thought naturally universal would mean it , fit all machines, and I did not know about the sizes, and for sure did not know that there were so many different types. I thrifted a old sewing basket with all kind of great goodies in it. It probably good to do some of the terminology (and just use old clips as examples)? Do you do pleating, if so can you demonstrate the technique? One would not think this kind of video would be interesting, but it very intriging and makes me want to run and get some needles for a machine I don't have yet. Thanks for sharing and blessing to you and all in the days to come.

I've been looking for days... I just need to sew some buttonholes by hand for a costume (changing snaps to button/hole). I'm going to use Gutermann Top Stitch weight 30 so the buttonhole looks good with thick thread. Is a "size 14 or 16" needle the right one? They look pretty big and some say "tapestry" and I don't want to mess up the fabric, which is 65% poly/35% cotton. Round point? Sharps? I'm not going to buy a sewing machine just for this, at least not now. Thanks for any info.

Hi Angelina, I have the blue twin needle pack from Amazon too. I can't use them on any of my sewing machines. Stitches are not forming for unknown reason. I have the original Schmetz brand blue tween needles, which are used on my Brother and Husqvarna machines. Did you know the color coding of the tween needles? Red is for regular type of fabrics, blue is for stretch fabrics?

@Bandaid172 жыл бұрын
Leather needles actually cut into the vinyl/leather making it easier for the thread to get through whereas they would not be used for woven because they would “rip”the cloth. You may find the stitches will be neater in the vinyl using leather needles. (Found out the hard way LOL)
