I was first diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in May 2022, I had lost weight and had back ache but nothing really to worry about. I had the tail of my pancreas and my spleen removed in June 2022. The operation went well but the cancer grew back, I have just months left to live, I’m not giving up, I’m touring the uk next week and I have a cruise booked at the end of April, Norwegian fjords here I come. Best wishes to you all 😀 May I just add that I married my long term partner Katy and if you would like to watch about 8 minutes of our wedding that was made possible by gift of a wedding Reece and Kate wedding, we had a fantastic day all thanks to gift of a wedding. Take care everyone thanks Reece.

One thing that helps is if you request a test of any kind and the doctor refuses ask them to note it as a permanent record in the medical chart that the test is being refused. That way there's proof the doctor dropped the ball. This sometimes will change the doctor's mind on the spot. If the Dr. refuses to note it then send a message to the Dr. IN WRITING documenting their refusal to run whatever test you are requesting. Doctors will dismiss you if you let them.

Was diagnost with pancreatic cancer in 2019, had a stent put in followed by a Whipple procedure.....all good until 2022, now found in liver, tried chemo but the chemo created too many side effects and my quality of life went to almost zero. Now off chemo for 3 months and other than issues with digestion am doing very well and am taking one day at a time. There is no cure, just quality of life issues. At 82 I am thankful for every day. Staying active and positive and wishing everyone the best. Am doing meditation, healthy diet and hiking almost every day.

My husband died from pancreatic cancer 17 days after the initial diagnosis. What infuriated me is that he was telling his doctor for a year that he felt something was wrong in his stomach, like a balloon inflating and his doctor ignored him. One time at a routine check up, my husband’s sugar spiked. So the same doctor put him on diabetic meds. When my husband took them, he got deathly Ill because he didn’t have diabetes! His sugar spiking, along with my husband telling him that he was extremely tired, his back hurt worse, and he felt strange things in his stomach, would have alerted a good doctor that maybe something else was going on. But his doctor brushed him off. 17 days. We had 17 days from him being diagnosed until he passed. I’d like to ask that doctor if he cared at all. We could have had at least another year together. My daughter had our first grandchild in December of 2021. My husband would have adored and enjoyed that little boy so so much. It breaks my heart that he’s not here. And it’s not fair.

Hi Cindy, I have same symptom as your husband, I feel something like a mass stucking in the middle part of my upper abdomen just under the ribs, and Drs ignored me. They think it was my mind imagining things. I did blood test for CA19.9, it came back normal. I am still thinking what kind of imaging test I should do to detect what is the mass in my upper abdomen. For MRI, I know that the contrast has bad side effect, so it scare me away. May I know what imaging test, ultrasound, CT scan or MRI your husband did and found out that he had the pancreas cancer ? And any advice for me? Thank you.

My dad was diagnosed at stage 4. He had a tumor blocking the pancreatic duct. They mistakenly thought it was a gallbladder problem so they removed it. This exacerbated the real issue which was his pancreas. Although he never had yellowing of skin and eyes. Never had bowel or skin issues. No back pain. He had a strong appetite up until 2 nights before he ended up in the emergency room. He said eating made the pain worse. Which makes perfect sense now. Unfortunately he died 8 months later of radiation poisoning. Everyone needs to be a warrior advocate for themselves. Question everything. Look into All treatments not just mainstream. Be open minded. Don't give in to the fear. Keep a positive mindset. Sending Love , Healing, Comfort, Clarity and Many More Blessings to All 💗

Pancreatic cancer killed my mother 6 1/2 months ago. She went in for gallbladder surgery and that's when they found the tumor. She was stage 3 at the time. She fought it for 3 1/2 years. She lived with me and I was her full time care taker. It was the hardest thing I've ever done. It broke my heart to see her health deteriorate knowing there was nothing I could do about it. To watch her take her last breath about killed me. I lost the most important person in my life, best friend, confidant etc. My life will never be the same.

In 1997 mom developed yellowing of the eyes,no other symptoms. Test after test came back negative. 3 months later she was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer. Ironically as mom is in the doctors office I could not hold back the tears & went outside. 3 women approached me - a Rabbi, Christian prayer leader and sweet elderly woman. We contacted Sylvester cancer institute at Miami University,but kept mom on list,no appointments. For some odd reason I felt so strongly mom would survive even tho from social workers to specialists said 3 months. I refused to accept that & yes I fought the medical world. It was obvious,they wanted no hope,I & family wanted survival.The prayers were overwhelming for her. Mom was in the hospital when we received the call,an appointment opened at Sylvester for her, but she was too weak to be transported. Mom, brother and I met with a young Oncologist who looked at he records,,had strong confidence he could save her, even though the cancer had spread. Dr Delgado graduated from Miami University, worked at Sylvester during his internship. Well,mom did survive and were so blessed to have her 12 more wonderful years.

In early 2017 I was having what I thought was either persistent heartburn or acid reflux, I had never had either before, so I didn't know what exactly the problem was. Still not sure it was even related, but I eventually had an ultrasound/that lead to an MRI/that lead to a CT scan/that lead to a biopsy/that lead to my Pancreatic Cancer diagnoses. I was lucky to get into a Clinical Trial at the Charles Sammons Cancer Center in Dallas, Texas. Lots of Chemo and other stuff during the trial, and then radiation treatments after. My Whipple was performed in early 2018, and as of this writing, I am 5 years out and still clean! Can't thank my amazing Clinical Oncologist and Surgical Oncologist enough, they quite literally saved my life.

Many times you go to the doctor with symptoms that last and they think you're hypochondriac and they also become unpleasant. But when you pay out of your pocket they have a welcoming personality and run all tests.
@deirdrekiely6187
@deirdrekiely6187 Жыл бұрын
I know, it does suck.

I was tired, had itchy skin, belly aches, severe night sweats, and more. I had been complaining for a long time, but was left feeling it was in my head. Finally, they did a CAT scan and an MRI. That is when the cancer was detected. Luckily it was stage 1, but I a not out of the woods yet. If the doctors had listened sooner, things would have been better!

This killed my 56 year old dad 9 months ago, always feels like yesterday. The doctors would always say he has high acid discharge in his digestive system, 11 months later is when it was discoverd to be cancer while undergoing an operation to check whether it's kidney stones. It was stage 3 pancreatic cancer, he would get skinny by the day, weaker by the day, I still hear his voice to date as he was grunting and writhing on the floor and bed with pain, later it caused constipation, kidney failure and belly full of lots of fluid. Last words in the hospital I remember from him was I can't breathe 😔 the hospital had already given up on him and totally ignored him since they felt it's his end days, the following day was a call to inform of his passing on very early in the morning.

It had spread to his liver and was stage 4 - terminal. He fought for 4 months undergoing chemo and radiation. He passed away on 12 June 2015. I was relieved he was finally pain-free and at peace as his final days were agonising though I mourned his passing . So many mixed emotions😢. It is a dreadful form of cancer. Almost 7 years ago my brother went to the hospital because he was feeling sick. They admitted him and discovered he had advanced pancreatic cancer. He died 6 weeks later, still in that hospital. He was my best friend and I miss him to this day. Pancreatic cancer is a near death sentence. Only 11% of victims survive 5 years, and only one percent survive 10 years. Those that do live usually have a terrible quality of life. Yes, there are cases of people surviving pancreatic cancer and having a very good life, but those cases are as rare as winning the lottery. If I get it, I want to be made as comfortable as possible, but I will not submit to excruciatingly painful treatments and surgeries for a 1% chance of surviving. I saw how much my brother suffered thru treatment, only to die a few weeks later. I wish the doctors would have told him the truth about his chances, so he could decide for himself what to do.

*I have pancreatic cancer I was diagnosed in early December 2021 our wonderful United Kingdoms NHS has spent literally thousands of UK Pounds trying to cure me of it, I have had 8 cycles of Folfirinox chemotherapy which was the worst experience of my life, I was referred to a specialist pancreatic centre in Birmingham here in the UK to have a whipple procedure but unfortunately when the surgeon opened me up he found the cancer had invaded two of my main arteries far more extensively than the CT and MRI scans had shown so was unable to continue with the operation, I have now been referred back to my local hospital for palliative single agent Gemcitabine chemotherapy, hopefully it will give me a few extra months of life with my wonderful family, Is pancreatic cancer a death sentence?" well yes it is for the vast majority of us, blessings to all sufferers of all diseases.*

My mother was diagnosed with stage 1 PC in 2021. She had jaundice and dark color urine. The surgeon oncologist wanted to perform surgery, but he wanted to shrink it with chemo. Then the cancer grew to stage 4, so stronger chemo shrunk the cancer. Until November 2022 it blocked the deudonom. Then mom passed away. I miss my mom. 😭

These all seem like late stage symptoms. My grandmother died due to PC and the only potential early sign she had was type 2 diabetes, but there was no cause to believe it was anything other than just that. By the time she suddenly became jaundiced, her diagnosis was terminal. She was given 3-6 months and survived about a year with treatment. This is why pancreatic cancer survival is ridiculously low: by the time you have symptoms, it's too late.

So nice to hear the voices of those who have driven down the same street before us... Yet, no matter what, when, or where, we must all face our individual mortalities. Even minus our pancreatic cancer issues, we must all, even our closest loved ones, deal with one demon or another in due time. Love while you still can, say sorry often, and always consider the difficulties of others before ourselves. My Mom gave me such a great example of how to live just like that.

The first sign my neighbor noticed was a strange feeling at the bottom of her rib cage on the left side. She had a hard time describing it, but it seemed like a combination of pressure and ache. Her doctor wasn't worried -- then she went to the ER with severe pain and they told her it was pancreatitis. Two weeks later she had the cancer diagnosis and now she's getting palliative care because it's spread and that's all they can really offer. It's heartbreaking.

It really depends on where in the pancreas the cancer is. Mine was in the head of the pancreas. I didn’t loose weight, have jaundice nor did I any of these other symptoms. Yet it had spread to my liver. SO, if you have any thing that’s not the norm for you don’t wait on these symptoms. Mine was found because my doctor was proactive with me when I complained of heartburn that wasn’t relieved with medicine. That’s it besides being fatigued.

My mother died from pancreatic cancer at age 72. She had always lived a pretty clean life, didn't ever smoke or drink and loved traveling after she retired. It was during her spring visit that she seemed worn out (even after a nap), complained of her guts hurting and she was taking something to help her poop (which was the norm the whole 3 years she was following the keto diet). She had lost weight and was getting compliments, but we knew something wasn't right. We took her into our local doctor for some tests. It was a CT Scan (about $600 at that time) that showed pancreatic tumors. Finally the answers she needed and all she could do was make her final plans. She was at Stage 4 pancreatic cancer, doctor set up hospice, we cared for her at home the last 5 months. The CNA that gave her showers 2-3 times a week & the pain meds were the best part of the hospice care. It was hard losing our mother and the hospice 1 year grief program helped.

@@laraoneal7284 Neither. Her blood sugars were pretty normal before going on the keto diet, of course that diet promotes ketones. She had an knee injury in her mid 60's that prevented her from exercise and gained a size, so she started that keto diet; lots of meats, whole fat dairy and no fruit or carbs. Mother was the only pancreatic cancer case in our family. Her parents were heavy set for most of their lives, never a diet, just never touched processed foods and lived until age 95 & 97.

My mother died of pancreatic cancer. Her first symptom started (over a YEAR before dx): mildly itchy skin - told it was normal aging and/or allergies; 2nd symptom: 1 yr before dx. Onset of diabetes at an older age (74),Told it was normal- it’s NOT. 3rd symptom: weight loss (blamed on diabetes); 4th symptom: vague stomach pain and indigestion that got worse over time. Told to take antacids and cut back on spicy foods. By the time dr recommended an xray, she had Stage 3 cancer. By the time the insurance co got around to approving an MRI, another 4 months had passed. By the time she got surgery approved, 6 mo. Had passed since xray. It was too late.
@PinkAgaricus

That 4th one was exactly my dad. The doctor gave him antacids too at first instead of trying to find the actual cause. (other thing that was blamed was gastritis) He also had problems later on processing his blood thinner (warfarin) with the results flying (the diagnostic blood tests to check levels) all over the place. It was only the technician doing an ultrasound that spotted the jaundice in the whites of his eyes, but like your mother that discovery probably came way too late to do anything. I feel like the scans should be done number one and not an XRay since that's not a good way of spotting things in organ tissue and muscle, it may be good for spotting mets in bones, but not in soft tissues.
