Everything you described is the same thing I’ve noticed with Floyd. The FIRST thing he does is step back and throw long jabs. Or if he gets rocked, he’ll cover up. And even after the opponent backs off so they won’t gas, Floyd will still hang back until he is fully recovered. Like my my coach(Uncle) says fighters don’t let themselves fully recover from a stun before they’re back the center trying to fight again. Then once he’s recovered, he starts taking away his opponent’s best weapon. Whether, you’re a boxer, MMA fighter, kickboxer, Thai boxer, Karate or Taekwondo etc. I always encourage people to watch Floyd

@@akramthegreat817 Well my theory is only casual fight fans hate Floyd. I can’t think of a single competitive fighter, whether amateur or professional that doesn’t have Floyd listed in their top five or top ten at the least. Of course, this is just a theory

Could not agree more with this video. The best way to create a comeback scenario is to constantly expose yourself to similar situations. Because trying to pull off a Hollywood movie style, Hail Mary come from behind Victory outta nowhere just isn’t realistic.

ayo last saturday got my 3rd muaythai amatur fight in my hometown Malaysia and its a special fight at 84kg, and its a draw. the opponent is overweight at 90kg+ and i weigh in around 81kg. i control the entire fight round 1,2,3. i just wanna say thx gabriel for all the tips that ive been watching since i started my fight camp in a week. this is my best fight during my time and having fun with it and thank u again, onto the next one!!! 😘

This is very helpful! Won golden gloves in April then lost yesterday bc I failed to adapt and kept forcing power rights when I needed more volume. Thanks for this, it will help a ton going forward!
@biskuat Жыл бұрын
How do you know when is the time for volume and when is for power?
@sappynoodle7276 Жыл бұрын
Well after taking that loss I’m working on it but what I’ve gathered so far is that power is good in bursts. Use it to gain respect so they don’t walk u down or anything. The flurries/ volume is need everywhere else so you don’t fall behind on the scorecards. In my match he would throw like 3-5 punches on my guard and while I blocked them I only returned with 1-2 hard ones and that looks awful to the judges. 3-5 fast shots are way better and are more important in the amateur scene bc it’s faster paced less rounds to work. (Keep in mind I only know boxing so it’s prolly very different for kickboxing or other arts)

Very important topic - we all been there - and very good advice. "Reset" is a really logical and sound first step, and the others also make sense. P.S. Nice goth/emo eye. 😉

Focus aside, it takes some experience but the better that you're able to feel the general pace of the fight the better comeback you can make. Which is why rhythm matters a lot. You need to get a good feeling of what type of fighter your opponent is, the timing in which he dictates his offense, when and how he engages and disengages, certain tendencies etc. which are the things that you should be looking out for in sparring to begin with. Then you need to know the type of fighter that you are and use your strengths to be able to pick him off and break his rhythm. All of this is more mental than physical especially in an actual fight.

Every time I see someone who’s a known martial artist, like you, with a black eye, I would often remark admiringly with wow! what a badass!..while me ( a newbie at kickboxing 😅) looking at myself in the mirror with a nasty black eye would often tell myself how stupid I was for not ducking down effectively 😂😂😂

Gabriel I really dig your black eye bro. I also want to start training kickboxing more seriously but where i go they only train 3x a week, but for me it is not enough. Any tips?
@GabrielVargaOfficial Жыл бұрын
You can get a lot of training done at home. I have plenty of at home videos that will help your skills build. 3X per week at the gym and 3X per week at home sounds pretty dedicated to me.

My son, 9, has really low self esteem. I see all the time where he gets inside his own head and looses because of it. I try and be supportive and positive for him. Is there anything or any way we can turn his thoughts about himself around?

Separate question but do you think it’s always necessary to keep your hands up when sparring? Wouldn’t that drain you a lot?

Not necessarily, it’s mostly for beginners

You do know he’s a multiple time world champion right? He got a black eye because he was sparring decently hard with very high level fighters to prepare for competition, so black eyes will happen occasionally.
