Hi John, The reason for the diode when using the transistor, is that when the power to a motor coil is removed the collapsing magnetic field will cause reverse polarity current to flow through the wires. this will ultimately damage the transistor unless the diode is there to allow that current to flow around the transistor.

I know the primary focus is on these awesome little boards, but another GREAT option is a $10 PWM (pulse width modulator) and a dpdt switch which allows direction and speed control of dc motors up to 10a at 12-40v for $10 on ebay. I use then to power wheelchair motors for various projects. Usually 24v @ 5a continuous.

hi john, i would like to ask a question regarding on my project problem, if this video can solve it.. so like what you said is true that arduino output pin gives out less current.. so i just encountered this problem a minute ago and so fortunately i found this video of yours.. so in this video, these six ways are able to solve the less current output problem?? because in my project, first step of signal to give current to my relay is a light sensor.. btw im doing greenhouse project.. light sensor detect low sunlight it will signal my motor to close the roof.. once it detect sunllight, the roof will open once again.. help me please..

Nice video. I have an existing 19v DC motor that is controlled by a trimpot. I'm wondering if I can tether off the control pin of this trimpot and add a power transistor so I can control the motor with an Arduino, but still use the trimpot in the circuit as a limiter? Thanks
@ArcanePath3608 жыл бұрын
+NYC CNC Thanks. Thinking about it, I'm not sure if it makes a difference where I tether the MOSFET in the circuit, as it essentially does the same thing at either end.

heyy it's really a great video. can you explain how should o select a motor driver according to it's ampere rating. I want to control a 3hp motor with 2A no load amps. which motor driver should I use. a 50A or 100A. n what if I want to control 2 motors of less HP with a single motor driver. Will it blow the motor driver.

Im using an H bridge which was included with a stepper motor I had bought. It works fine with the stepper motor however when a dc motor is connected to it, it starts getting very hot. What might be the problem? The model of the chip is ULN2003APG. I dont have the model of the dc motor, however I got it from a toy car which used 2 AA batteries

Have you come across any way to control an AC motor with an arduino. My personal use would be to control the AC voltage that is sent on an O Gauge railroad check, but I would think the process would be the same as controlling a motor directly.

If I'm not mistaken you can use the transistor to control speed using PWM. (pulse width modulation)
@BrowFinGarf7 жыл бұрын
Should that diode be jumping the MOSFET leads? I would have thought that you needed it in series with one of the leads to prevent the current from flowing backwards. Or is the point to basically short the circuit out in one direction and not the other thereby saving the MOSFET? I suppose in either set up you can effectively prevent damaging your MOSFET.

Great job!! However you need to chamfer you thread, The way I do it I would run thread mill to the size then use same tool to chamfer top and bottom then one more pass with thread mill and then chamfer again for burr free thread. You be surprised how little it takes (maybe seconds) . As for programming create thread milling, chamfering then copy and paste right after in same order except change number of passes on 2nd thread milling just use one to get that burr out.
