I have a different issue so if i restart my mac the icon is the normal icon when not plugged. And when i plug it i must plug it into the 2nd slot or else it will not charge and when it finishes it will say its at 100% for a while then go back to plugged in but not charging and the battery condition is maintence recommended

It worked!, and thank you ! Cleaned power connection on macbook, and on the magsafe connector. I used a random paper towel I found and wet it slightly with my tongue lol. But now i will check battery diagnostic and the other tips in this video.

(and also, do you press these keys right after you turn on your computer 💻❓ If so, then the computer must be turned off before proceeding with step 2)

Once I took my Mac with me to the beach (I didn't literally take it on the beach) and it was working fine; somehow a single grain of sand got in the port and I couldn't get the MagSafe into the port. When I saw that grain of sand in there was throwing everything off, voila -- it worked again. Recently while I was at work and the Mac was charging at home, it quit charging for some unknown reason and when I got home the Mac was dead. I fiddled around with it, got the charger to light up again, it started charging and everything was great. Today, just a couple of days later, I came home after being away from the Mac for a few hours; it was plugged in; when I got home the charger light was off, but the Mac was 100% charged. Very weird. This hasn't happened before. I'll get in there with a Q-tip and some canned air and see what I can do if it keeps happening.

My daily MBA charges fine with OEM charger, but will not charge from Magsafe 2 from Thunderbolt monitor. However, my backup MBA can be charged with the OEM and Magsafe 2 from Thunderbolt monitor. I've tried eraser and re-start but that didn't work.

I scanned through youtube looking for a possible answer to my MacBook air shutting down with 87 percent charge left in it. I tried all the tricks. I called Apple customer service and it determined the battery was basically shot. I made an appointment today with Apple and had the store check the computer. Everything was perfect except for the battery. It was shot. Instead of selling me a new computer they installed a new battery saving me a pile of cash. They were impressed with the functioning of the computer and encouraged me to get a battery and maybe look at upgrading the computer to a new operating system. With it working how I want it, I'll keep with what I've got for now.
