Thank you for the report. I have found the 1TB WD SSD and have ordered it to upgrade my 256GB storage to that. Appreciate this detailed long-term report. Here is my simple stats on the upgrade: Original 256GB SSD Read +-2300MBps, Write +-1200MBps WD SN530 1TB Read +-2100MBps, Write +-1900MBps The read speed is a bit lower, but considering that I got a huge upgrade on write speed and storage, I wouldn't complaint. There is not much difference is real world use for read speed. Edit: Added stats for both SSD

Any issues with sleep, wake, or battery drain?
@RizalBoon3 жыл бұрын
@@joshualee7429 I have not faced any wake or sleep issue. However the battery drain is there and it is noticeable, but I can live with it.

@@RizalBoon How much battery drain do you experience now? thanks in advance.
@RizalBoon2 жыл бұрын
@@ybesprince5076 not much, but its noticeable. If Im not using it and sleep most of the time, it usually drains the battery in 3-4 days. There might be some settings that I can tinker to improve it, but I'm too lazy right now to do it haha.

@@RizalBoon Okay, thanks for replying. I'm debating if I should get the WD or Sabrent one or if I should get a genuine Apple one from a broken mac book pro.

Thanks for this update. I have the Sabrent 1tb 2242 installed since December 2020 in my A1708. I had to enable Trimforce in terminal to stop the ssd slowdown issues and ever since I've done this it's been fine. Powerdrain in sleep is minimal for me (no noticable difference from the stock ssd) - I get worse powerdrain from my 2019 16" MacbookPro. I'm so pleased with the Sabrent that I will be upgrading to the 2tb as soon as I can afford to.

Thanks @Leo I did this upgrade with a 1TB Samsung 970 Evo Plus on a Macbook Pro 2016 13" and loose around 0.5% charge per hour of standby (so typically 6% over a 12 hour overnight/lid closed period). I can live with that.

Your video was what allowed me to replace a faulty SSD with a nice Sabrent one(2242 512gb). Unfortunately the computer has an issue where it'll crash and won't be able to read the ssd despite the ssd being formatted correctly. After much troubleshooting I found that plugging in a thumbdrive with a bootable copy of MacOS suddenly allowed the computer to detect the internal SSD. In any case I think its an issue with my computer not the SSD.

I was on Sierra, and after upgrading and cloning my original installation, I could not access my SSD drive. I have to boot on USB with High Sierra intall software, and upgrade my earlier OS. It worked fined after that. Its necessary to upgrade OS to HIgh Sierra or above. I do not know if this is the case.
