6 wounded soldiers return home

American airlines organized a welcome for these wounded soldiers as they arrived. I was not expecting it to be so emotional but as the first soldier arrived you can tell they weren't expecting this.
The soldiers' injuries resulted in, from what I could see, prosthetic arms, prosthetic legs, skin grafts, and probably other unseen injuries.

The soldier who came walking proudly in - on two artificial legs. How on earth can we pay him back for his service to our country? We can't. Such sacrifice. Thank you, all of you, for your dedication, service and keeping America safe.

i think the best way we can pay him back is to bring his friends home and assure this does not happen to somone again. nobody should have to have thier legs blown off for the sake of a bunch of polititians that dont give a damn about them.

Make sure his needs are taken care of, physically and mentally. He needs to always know he will be respected and have a place to call home in this country, free from political strife, and tyranny that he fought against.

@@dakotastein9499 That is why I will support any effort by any politician to end wars. People will die when we end wars, that is inevitable, but we need to end wars, not start them. As much as I disliked President Trump, he did try to end wars. I think Obama tried to as well, but got caught up listening to the generals and not what the American people and military really wanted. I am glad Trump and Biden are maybe changing the conversations from wars to no wars. There is no excuse to start new wars until we can get America in order and unless we are attacked like 9/11.

By being better AMERICANS and putting and end to the partisan bullshite that's been going on in and dividing America the past two years - the Covid, the election, the attack on the Capitol, the vax... That's my answer to the question. And I'm a veteran, disabled too. When we're deployed, we don't care about what denomination, or political party the guy or gal next to us with a rifle is, or what the medic, or doctor, or the XO is - just so long as we have each other's back. This business of people going full retard over things they shouldn't has to stop. That's what America's enemies want.

i remember my flight i was on a united flight and i had originally had 1st class which was all booked and saw a female coastal guard whom had one leg amputated and offered her my seat. i could always do first class for a flight but giving her that seat made me feel good because they deserve so much love and respect for what they do... she later told me that at the boarder a tiny grenade exploded by a mexican imagrant illegally crossing the boarder of Texas which she found 9 of those grenades, as she took out his stuff one of the grenades exploded probally by a faulty of the grenade... it truly was amazing hearing her story and i will remember it forever!!

These types of things are hard but speaking from personal experience, most guys don't want a welcome home like that.. it's amazing that people care so much about what we as wounded veterans have done for our great nation.. but when I returned home, I got a similar welcome.. it was nice but it made me feel almost seperated... like every one was feeling sorry for me.. I never asked to be felt sorry for and worried about, I knew what i was getting into when I signed my name on that line. The only thing I was thinking about was my guys that I left over there.. and the fact that I couldn't be there with them was only solidified by this kind of welcome.. but great video and I love to see passionate Americans!

It always amazes me how generous of spirit the American people can be. I served 22 years in another country's Army, i happened to be visiting relatives in Texas and went out for a run wearing my favourite grey running t-shirt with 'ARMY' written on it. While i was out, a pickup passed me, u-turned and came up behind me. Now having just returned from Afghanistan, my 'flight or fight' bell was ringing loudly. The driver was a former member of the 82nd Airborne and just wanted to know with who i was serving, when he found out i wasn't American, and who in town i as related to, he wished me well and drove off. That night 15 pick-ups arrived outside my relatives house, they insisted my family and i accompany them to the local college fooball (not soccer) game, seats had been reserved and afterwards i was guest of honour at a barbecue, and i never bought a drink the entire rest of my stay. I didn't know any of these people, yet i was shown more respect than i felt i deserved. In my own country i have been spat at and called a baby killer.....its a very strange world!

I graduated high school in 1968, I was 17. The Vietnam draft was in it's heyday. I tried to volunteer. Being a female with a heart issue I was denied. I was angry! I felt if they would draft most of my male classmates why was I not allowed to volunteer. A few years later I became a flight attendant with a major US based carrier. In my 51yr career some of my most treasured memories are also the most painful. Among antiwar characters (Jane Fonda included, to this day I refuse to watch any show or movie that includes her!), that were calling those that keep our country free 'baby-killers' - some were protesting in airports. I volunteered to work flights carrying soldiers to their last US stop en route to Vietnam and transport returning soldiers from their first US landing to a large connecting airport. Those returning were understandably concerned about being pelted by rocks while being called 'baby-killers'. Many refused to make eye contact. I made it a point to hug each and every soldier. At first most would flinch but I could feel their muscles relax. After all they had endured I cannot fathom their inner turmoil. For the soldiers shipping out I brought my crappy camera. I would offer any soldiers interested in having a pix of them on their last US flight sent to family that opportunity. Of course film had to be developed and I had to pair the name/address with the # on the roll of developed film. I mailed the picture and a short note stating I had the honor of working a specific flight on a specific date that transported their child. Not necessarily a big deal but I have always written letters so it seemed 'right'. I heard from a few dozen recipients. I recall five notes that stated that was their last photo of their son, sadly they passed in Vietnam. I cried for days, I felt absolutely lousy about my decision to send the photos. My dear departed Mother made a valid point - she said 'as sad as you feel can you imagine how devastated their loved ones must feel?'. Well duh! So I continued sending photos. Sadly years ago a fire destroyed the film and notes. It would be touching to revisit those photos. I strongly feel if you do not believe the USA is the finest country to live in and if you do not believe our 'all volunteer' military is constantly and diligently working to keep us free PLEASE FEEL FREE TO LEAVE!!! AND NEVER RETURN!!!!!!!!!!! Our military can focus on protecting those that appreciate and deserve their protection.

The kids in college don't even know what Memorial day is or what these brave men and women have been through. The professors are teaching them everything is racist. Go look those soldiers in the face and tell them their racist. My heart ❤goes out to all the soldiers.

One things the yanks do well is brainwash. Another thing they do well is to pretend to remember their vets. In reality, very few people genuinely give a fuck. See, the american government learnt a big lesson during Vietnam war. Ever wondered why people's reception of soldiers returning from Vietnam and let's say, Iraq, is so fundamentally different? Think about it when you have time.

I was passing through a Texas airport back in 69', in uniform, still on crutches after being wounded several months earlier in Vietnam. A woman about same age as me, 19, came up and asked if I had been hurt in Vietnam. I said yes and she then said "I wish you would have died there". That was it it. She had a look of real hate on her face I recall. Things certainly have changed with time.

And thank God they have. Actually, in '69 I was also a young 19 yr. old working woman in Texas and I and all my family and the crowd I ran with, were supporting our troops (you) and horrified by Jane Fonda's actions. No one ever mentions the majority of America who were like me in that sexual revolution, hippie commune, Woodstock time because those were the ones highlighted by the main stream media at that time. Us ordinary folks, working, attending church, patriotic, still virgins just did not make the news. But I hope it will comfort your heart to know that the majority of Americans appreciated you and prayed for you--we stood behind you. Welcome back to America Arky Bald Knobber....
