A faux rust wall would be a very cool feature in a house, I like that idea a lot - but I don't think I'll be painting that much cardboard any time soon, lol

Your 6 x 6 media challenge is one of my favorites. Makes me pull out to use things I haven’t thought about for a while. Has also made me fall in love again with all the colors of the Archival inks that I have and use them. Thank you for so much inspiration and as always for sharing.

I'm glad you enjoy it. I really like working with this size. I'm not sure what I'd do without my Archival inks, I use them on practically everything I create. I'm glad my pieces are giving you inspiration to use your's :-)

I LOVE this one, Rachel!!! I've been wanting to play with some Prima rust effect products in my stash so this week's challenge is perfect. Although... It will have to wait just a bit since my table is currently covered with all things Christmas! (Big Smile) Thanks for the special treat of another challenge right after the 7 day card series. It is always a joy to spend time with you! Take care - hope you have a fabulous week! :-)
@artfulevidence6 жыл бұрын
You're welcome Sue. I don't have the Prima rusting products, and I probably have enough stash to do without, but I am curious about them, so you'll have to let me know how you get on with them. Have a great week too :-)

@@artfulevidence Hi, Rachel... I finally had some time to play today so I did this 6x6 Rust Challenge. I used one of the original Finnabair 3-jar sets that include Brown Rust, Red Rust, and Gold Rust... I don't get the gold which is more of a mustard color but it was okay to use as an undercoat. I love the effect of using the red and brown rusts together though. Because of its gritty texture and matte finish the die cuts look so real that I could throw them in Dad's scrap pile! LOL I enjoyed playing with them and will use them again when I do something industrial or steam punk. Hope that info helps you. Have a great day! :-)

I love this piece! I find it interesting the many ways to give a rust effect. For 15 years or so, I've used Ten Seconds Studio's VerDay metal paints and patina spray. Because the paints contain metals, it actually rusts any substrate. Thanks for the corrugated paper technique...this will add dimension to many of my pieces!
@artfulevidence6 жыл бұрын
I've never tried the ten seconds studio paints, mostly because I don't think I've ever seen them here, but I have tried a good variety of other rusting techniques over the years. You can't beat rusting with real metal, and those rusting kits that contain iron filings always give me the best results which sound similar to the paint you mention, but regular metallic paints can do a great job too for something like this, and are a little more accessible to people I feel.

Beautiful. I love how you created that rusty look. What do you do with all your 6x6 pieces? Save them in a book?
@artfulevidence6 жыл бұрын
Thanks Susan. I'm going to bind them all into a journal at some point. Probbably in batches of 20 :-)

Hi Rachel, you always inspire me! Love this project. How do you keep your Glossy Accents from getting clogged up? I always have to use a pin to open it, sometimes several times while I'm using it, and it is so frustrating!
@artfulevidence6 жыл бұрын
I have problems with glossy accents too - I just don't film myself sticking pins down the nozzle, lol. I honestly don't think there is a solution, it's just one of those love hate and hate it at the same time products. I'll never be without it though, no matter how frustrating the nozzle can be.
