Have you ever had a screw eye pull out? Looks way better than twisting wire for each eyelet!

I have not on a 3d printed lure. And if you want more insurance just use a longer screw eye with a dab of super glue.

I am doing the print and fish now just for testing with a coat of rattle can clear. No need to go all balls out wasting time on painting and does not swim right. Good work.

That's the way to do it! #actionmatters more then looks. I have caught plenty of fish on single color lures! What lure are you testing?

What type of lures do you want to 3D print? Let me know below!

Lets have a video about foam loading, looks like a very smart idea.

I have been 3D printing Tomic type plugs but they don't perform the action properly. They roll instead of dip side to side. You showed your lure with no infill but the walls are solid, do you have any with infill or should you make things 100% ? I feel that makes it too heavy but maybe that will help the action, I should test. I need to swap to petg so things stay inside better. Did you ever have issues with the eyelets (screw eyes) coming out? Did you reinforce the drilled hole or were most of your prints two pieces and then you put it together?

Do you design the lure?Where can we find it?
@upscalelures4 ай бұрын
I did design the Glide Bait, those are only listed on eBay. Otherwise I did just add a link in the description to my other designs on Thingiverse. And a Playlist to all the other 3d printed lures I printed and reviewed. If you're looking for a good 3d printed glide bait style lure this one is really fun to fish. www.thingiverse.com/thing:3024271

Have you tried either foaming or pre foamed pla. The RC plane folks use it. I have used the pre-foamed stuff and it makes for a bit snappier action. It is not as strong though.
@upscalelures4 ай бұрын
I have used the pre-foamed pla hoping I could print it right into the lure to make it waterproof and more buoyant. But it was too dense, too stringy and yeah not as strong. instagram.com/p/CwjgILpuw0o/
@bigcheesedog26454 ай бұрын
@@upscalelures Yea it can be stringy. But since I generally avoid 2 piece lures it's not too much of an issue for me. Although you are changing my mind I have never gone for print-to-fish, My design goal is that when I pull a bait off the printer it is in the same state as if I had carved it out of wood so sealing, final sanding, and assembly is left.
@upscalelures4 ай бұрын
Same here. I steer clear of 2 piece prints (gluing 2 halves together) at all costs. If your 3d printing them you shouldn't have to do all that. It ends up taking more time at least for me.

Are you printing these in halves or printing each piece as a whole? I’m just starting out and trying to figure out how to get weight into these if they are printed as a whole
@upscalelures4 ай бұрын
@@RussDismukes I print in one piece and just add a pause in the printer slicer. Then add the weight while it’s still on the print bed.

I use petg for lips and have avoided it for lure bodies due to its reputation for not taking paint .
@upscalelures4 ай бұрын
I haven't done a ton of painting on the PETG. But if you did have that issue you could hit with a little sand paper first or clear coat it before paint.

@@upscaleluresI will have to give it a try I was thinking that the translucent nature of petg would be good for ghost lures
