Thanks for sharing. Don't ever feel the need to explain why you buy anything to anyone. You're not feeding the internet so they don't need to worry about why you do or don't buy anything (aside of asking how something tasted).

My produce never lasts more than 2 days when I buy at ALDI. Not sure if it’s because the fruits and veggies aren’t refrigerated but it’s the one thing I will not buy at ALDI.

My lunches growing up were a sandwich, 3 or 4 cookies and a handful of chips (most days). Some days my mom was sneaky and stuck fruit in, but she picked her battles. Giving me a fun lunch at school was something she never felt the need to apologize for. She cooked us breakfast before we left for school, and she made homemade (and amazing) dinners 95% of the time at night. Your kids are lucky that you give them the balance between fun and healthy so that they know that everything is ok in moderation.
@SimpleWifeSimpleLife
@SimpleWifeSimpleLife 7 жыл бұрын
I'm so fortunate that the kids love fruits and veggies and for the most part I don't have much issue getting them to choose some throughout the day! I hope I raise them to be open minded to different foods and their palates adapt! I'm not very picky at all haha

Crazy how you have to explain your purchases. Great haul. I liked the Aldi brown rice, but the family of course prefers white rice. We picked up a huge back of Sushi style rice at our restaurant store. We love the sticky kind cause we are a chopstick family. I got a ton of meat on sale a few weeks back too. Love having it stocked up. My kids love the cheddar and colby jack sticks. The string cheese does tend to sit around.

Pretty good. I think you might need some fresh fruits and salad and aldi is pretty on on that the spring mix is like $3 and green peper is cheap too. I love jazmin rice too. Aldi precooed brown rice is good but i make spanish rice so it adds another layer of flavor. And fried rice too. Eggs at aldi are really good deal. And caugh in the wild fish it amases me the good price on salmon and swai. And shrimp.

Limit the snacks. Get the 5for 20 at sav a lot. Use scratch and dent stores. Only buy 1.00 snacks like cookies and chips. I get aldi snacks for .89 i buy 20.00 worth a month. Watch aldis ads for grnd beef for 1.79 lb. Only allow so much snacking. If it runs out you dont get anymore till next month. I buy 2 boxes tea bags at save alot and 4 bags sugar you get 5gals per every 4lb bag use 9single bags of tea. 5 gals for 6.00 no pop unless krogers has it for 5for 10. I buy stakes at sav a lot when they on sale.

I just started going to my local Aldi again about 1 month ago. I had hated the store before, small, crowded and full of rude people. Gave it another shot as I am out of work right now and prices are good. Store has doubled in size, you can fit more than 1 cart in an aisle, still a few rude people but doesn't seem quite as bad. I got that same jasmine rice, it is good. Off to check out your other videos. ☺

Is the $400 budget just food groceries or does that also include household items (tp, dish soap, etc)?
@SimpleWifeSimpleLife
@SimpleWifeSimpleLife 7 жыл бұрын
That's just groceries! Also doesn't include my husband's protein powder and any supplements we take...those come out of a "personal care" budget.

I think you did wonderful! Never say sorry for doing what you can and doing what you think is best for your family! Every families needs are different! I live 45 miles from a town and only buy groceries 2x a month so we are very limited on how much fresh produce we can get that will last but also be affordable bc it's not cheap where we live! I would say 90% of our produce is frozen or canned and yes to most that's not ideal but it is from where the area I live! Loved your video and remember it's your family and know that you know your family best 💜

Frozen can sometimes actually be BETTER than fresh from what I've learned because it's flash frozen at it's peak freshness! So I don't think you're doing anything wrong. Frozen makes sense for taste and quality (and price sometimes!) in a lot of instances.

If you cook in broth or stock it tastes better! We only have the organic quinoa at my ALDI but I use broth to make it taste better. Same with brown rice. :-)

I love brown rice and it is much healthier. White rice contains no fibre and bloats me, the same with white bread. Neither is good if you're into fitness. It's like putting sand in the base of an umbrella stand 😁 but brown rice is yummy once you get used to the flavour and learn to cook it properly. It puffs/swells up and as with wholemeal bread, has stand alone flavour (unlike white bread or rice) which only enhances when combined with the other part of the meal
