Never go for the "coolest gear and gadgets" for a "doomsday survival" scenario. Get what is practical and actually useful even if it's not the coolest thing. You pay more for the cool stuff and not really need it...spend that money to buy the best practical and useful things that are actually NEEDED, that's a better use of your hard earned dollars.
