This is a compilation of video clips taken during home inspections mostly in 2016. There are a few clips from 2017, and one or two from the end of 2015. These are not from the same house.

You guys saved us the headache of almost buying a house that needed $20k+ in repairs! Very through! Well worth the cost. Thanks George and Dustin!

#59 might not be a leaking outside faucet (hose bibb). It could be an anti-siphon device / vacuum breaker that prevents ground water from being sucked back into the domestic water supply system. When you shut off the faucet, the water pressure in the hose is released through the device, sprays just like that for a second.

Not maybe, it was. As a 40 year master repair plumber I can tell you right now I saw things that were a total set up. The garbage disposal??? I don’t think so!!! Someone purposely took a grinder and opened up the side for purposes of this video. Begs to question the legitimacy of it all..

Brick veneers - why ?? Either build the house from real bricks or don't. But faking brick walls ? Maybe it's just the european in me that won't ever understand these things.

#60 is out of scope for a home inspection. You're not to inspect the appliance but may use the appliance to inspect plumbing and ventilation.

Are we talking a federal pacific breaker box? Because those have a reputation for spectacularly unsafe modes of failure, and your house is of the right period to have one.

damn i was expecting stuff not seen with a set of eye balls. I am not a home inspector but I AM A HOME INSPECTOR lol. (Side gig as I live in a low populated area that has every tom dick and harry doing home inspections. Slowly building my name though and my tool base). I do about 4-5 a week and just starting out I only charge $300 for a basic (visual with a few test). I even get potential renters seeking my service the past 5-6 mths. I cannot believe how many slumlords are out there. And the people selling shabby work as in new homes or complete reno jobs is appalling. 1 inch screws holding down 3/4 deck boards. I Pull them to see :-D. If the home owner objects if they are their. I look at my customer and tell them not to buy this place. They are hiding more than just screws. Not often do i find obvious shit like in this video I will admit. Most of my issues are corners cut in construction usually noticeable in basements and attics. Mold issues in bathrooms that owners try and cover up with fresh paint. Current faucets not leaking but the cuppboards base shows there was a leak for awhile not taken care of and sure enough you slip a borescope down the hole of the drain and there is mold /rotted flooring. My favorite is when the homeowners are there and hearing how all of the issues were fixed before we put our place up for sale. Their eyes get big when I haul out a bore scope or a multi meter (they have no clue what type of "tester" it is) and then suddenly admit oh i think that is one of the issues that wasn't in our budget to get taken care of. lol. I have worked in many trades in construction. Back to when the builders did everything other than the electrical and plumbing. Its a shame how everything today has become "specialized" and today there are more issues with new homes than ever before. Every "special" trade is cutting corners or using the cheapest products they can get away with. Im in canada and use to watch mike holmes shows until i seen a few of the sub trades on his show and he would praise them to high heaven lol. But over the years I had experienced their work and by now means they quality of their work you see on a national TV show is their typical quality. Sixteen yr old kids having a field day is their typical quality. AND when contacted about issues they act like Justin Trudeau lol.

@@heyimgoingtoplaysomegames So you would rather forgo the home inspection and buy a home that might have several things wrong with it? Almost everything in the home inspection report is negotiated with the seller, especially the big ticket items. So the buyer ends up saving a lot more money in the long run than the price of the inspection. The average price for a 2,500 sq ft (gross sq ft) home inspection is $350. Here in Florida anyway
@heyimgoingtoplaysomegames

smoke14 I’m just saying this is a good eye-opener for people to be aware of what could be wrong, and to look into how major it could be so they don’t get massively overcharged.

During covid ALL houses sell in hours no matter the condition. If you mention inspection to the seller, he will laugh and pick some idiot buyer instead. One of the "tips" real estate agents give to compete in today's market is not to ask for inspection, as not to offend the seller.

The dryer is an appliance and has nothing to do with a home inspection. Neither do fences.
@ryanbarker5217
@ryanbarker5217 4 жыл бұрын
some of that was definitely exceeding the SOP in a basic home inspection. however, home inspectors will check the fencing, too, more often than not, i think (not sure what the dryer was on for, though). some of these guys apparently do check some appliances, mostly to look for possible problems (i've seen in these videos where many, if not most, check the dishwasher and washing machine by running a rinse cycle to look for leaks). there are a lot of other things they can be certified to check, so in that sense it may just be part of what the client is paying extra for. if you're the one thinking about buying the house, you're perfectly happy having all this done, eh?

Many new houses are sold with appliance packages and appliances are often included in the sale of old houses, so they definitely need to be part of the inspection. Any plumbing or ducting for appliances also needs to be inspected regardless of whether the appliance is there, included in the sale; or not. Which is why any inspector will run a dryer, washer, heater, boiler, shower etc. as part of the inspection. So your very wrong. All boundary fences are part of the pre-purchase inspection.
