To compare prices to the US, one NZ dollar equals 64¢ in America. Since 15% GST is included subtract that too. The extra cost of shipping to a country with only one Costco must also be factored in. Divide the NZ amounts in half to get the approximate US equivalent.

I'm single, but I still shop at Costco. I don't buy the large packages of perishable items unless I'm shopping with someone. There are plenty of things that are not in a multi pack. Try shopping with a friend, etcetera and see if it's for you. If you decide after several months it is not worth it for you, you get a full refund. Nothing to loose.
