Chandler Parsons considered a rising star back then? Well... It turned out to be an irony

Van Gundy did that tarde for Griffin, one pressumes, without the help of statistics. When he gets fired I'm gonna laugh.

Discrete statistical data interrupts flow . That said mechanics are at root of performance . Injuries crimped Parsons career. Analytics improved cerebral battiers approach but lesser athletic frame. They are still behind on defensive analytics. Finding lin was a ball accelerator only showed he is better in transition games . Was it worth 25 mill. ? And did the eye catch in 2020 that CP3 was under producing from the left side of the floor. Tweak. Tweak, looks like a match but is it. Coaches players may get cut experimenting with some geniuses idea. That's the human factor.

There is only so much data data-analytics can reveal. I agree when coaches argue about team chemistry and when data-analytics cannot show such results. For example; the dynamic duo Karl Malone and John Stockton. Both of these players forged a bond in the court. John knows how fast, how slow and when Karl would cut on the mid-court and once Karl has the ball, he knows where John or Jeff is or when Greg is going to cut. It is the team chemistry that also matter in team sports. For example, if a team lost one player through trade or injury, the team has to adjust its chemistry in the court and would affect the percentage of winning or losing. Losing one key player (and replaced by a different player) the team could potentially lose a game or on the upside could win a game.

Theoretically, High-percentage mid-range jumpers are better shot by players under 6 feet tall.

Van Gundy thinks mileage is useless data?? That's a typical old school coach who forgot (or never knew) what it's like to play a long season. & Lebron travelled.

What so, New York Knick's doesn't understand the numbers stats that's why they can't win a game. They need more intelligent players.

I’m a math major, but it’s ridiculous how all these data nerds who know NOTHING about the game and have to atheleticism or have played sports, can have control over drafting basketball talents and trying to rank players based on movement which can is always dependent to the situation and players skillset or offense/defense scenario. This analytics takeover is ruining basketball stats with all this true stats bullshit!

Having this strictly as an option for a coach is fine, but using data to determine player ranking and how good a player is (which is a list that ESPN has been constantly fucking up for the past several years) needs to stop and take a better look at a players real talents and present & previous accomplishments.

3:53 why would you measure how fast he gets from point A to point B? is that stat really going to help you?? do you have anyone on your team thats going to match him or beat him from point A to point B? 3:54 here's a STAT = THATS A TRAVEL! 4:05 absolutely pointless to really monitor players who have a small impact on a game. I would never care what Mike Miller did on a court. He doesn't have enough talent or simply ability to turn a game without the help or the better players 4:25 here's another STAT NO AMOUNT OF SCIENCE OR MATH can replicate that or devise a plan to use 10 guys and run an offense not centered on anyone player. Thats coaching first. then the players have to execute the Habit the coach has been trying to embed in the players. 4:40 even if you knew that stat it wouldn't make a difference They lost to Miami one year playing the same way and they beat Miami playing the same way 6:30 stop shitting me!! "pretty good?" he was an average player for most of his career never pretty good more like pretty solid and if the data tells you he's pretty good its WRONG! he's pretty solid! MY GOD THE ROCKETS HIRED A GM WHO PLAYED WITH COMPUTERS MORE THAN A BASKETBALL 6:50 data does not put you in the right spots on defense, great coaching does and the players intelligence A player like Battier only takes high quality shots because he plays that way. For the most part he could never get a shot for himself Tip a rebound to a teammate , again an intelligent player will do that BUT does the data keep a % of times the player tips rebounds to teammates? does he tip it at a higher % than another player? how many times have those tips gone negative? i've never seen a coach "value" a player for tipping a rebound to a teammate 7:15 LET THE DATA SHOW Parsons is now on the MAVS 7:39 a little oops there? there are no OOPS in MATH!!! He got it right the first time. Lin is a scrub!!! and he blew money on him after 8:00 Data on Jeremy Lin he can't start on one of the worst teams in the league 8:15 Data didn't bring Harden OKC not being able to pay everyone brought Harden to Houston such bullshit! You don't need data to tell you Harden is awesome even back then when he was 22 years old and the best 6th man in the league who can handle, create, shoot, attack the basket and required doubles!

I think you really misunderstand the value of data analytics. It isn’t meant to replace coaching, it’s a tool. There’s a reason that the teams that rely heavily on it have done well AKA the Rockets. The data can’t force a team to beat a better team, the data can just inform the coach on things that they may or may not have picked out by themselves in a way that is more valuable in that form than some emotional reaction like “that guy does well when he drives to the hoop” or “this guy is good at threes”
