I was watching this video yesterday afternoon and recalled that I had purchased a used 13" Pearl Omar Hakim Signature snare, but hadn't done anything with it. So I paused, got it out of my drum room, and started dismantling it while watching the rest of the video. Cheers!

What a nice little kit. Turned out great. Not sure if it will help you, but I have had good luck with Simple Green for gentle paint removal. I haven’t tried it on wood, so definitely try it on a junk kit first, but it might be another weapon for your arsenal. Also I think you have really come into your stride for the pacing of your videos. You ever thought of recording a bit of you playing the kit in the videos and using that as your buffer music? No matter what you think of your playing, I’d rather hear you than an Apple loop or whatever.

@@geoffcowan2384 thanks man! We use simple green at work for several things, it's good stuff! And I appreciate that! I'm still learning this whole video thing haha progress has been painfully slow 🤣 and I have thought about recording something like that and someday may happen! Thanks again!

Great looking kit! I've been s l o w l y redoing a 72 Pearl All Fiberglass kit that was covered in contact paper. Nightmare getting that residue off! So far, the WMP wrap is in great shape, as in no bad scratches, bubbling ir seams separating. But its fairly oxidized and yellowed. What would you suggest to try and remove it? Can i take enough layers off that the wrap will be OK? Ive been using Maguiers #2, then fine, then wax. I can get some shine but can't seem to get rid if the yellowing. I would also like MORE shine, so the pearl parts pop.
@shawnsdrumcave4 ай бұрын
@@Spagz I'd try wd40 and or goo gone for the adhesive and retro brite for the yellowed wmp!

@shawnsdrumcave thanks man. Been using goo gone and a Scotch Brite. Never heard of Retro Bright. Will try it. I just want to make sure I can accomplish it on the 13 before I try and tackle the kick or FT.

I found a vintage pre serial club date 13x9 tom that was wrapped in a God awful fake marble plastic linoleum type of wrap used for furniture, and it was easy to remove cause the glue was dry and brittle. Lo and behold, underneath that crappy wrap, was the perfectly preserved original blue sparkle, to match my set of orphans, which is a blue sparkle set ! What were the chances ??? The problem now, and I could just smack the imbecile who double wrapped this beautiful drum, is removing the glue residue on the wrap, without damaging the wrap. I'm in Canada, and some of the great products you use are not available here in my hometown, so I was wondering if you could help me with what type of product to use to remove this excess glue residue. I'm a custodian for a high school, so I've got access to many heavy duty cleaning, stripping , and restoring products. The Goo Gone I'm using is taking forever to remove the glue. I also used a degreaser/cleaner product from work which seems to work better, but still not sufficient enough to remove it with ease. Any thoughts or info on what I can use would be greatly appreciated. Great job on the drums as always, Sean !👍

@@rhythmista7707 thank you! I have good luck removing adhesives with wd40 and a plastic razor blade. Let it soak in tho and will probably take multiple applications. I usually soak the area and cover it with a paper towel then soak the paper towel a bit more. Might just have to experiment a bit to see what works best for you! Take care and good luck!
