Cuneo is a little town some 100 km south of Turin. Turin is where the FIAT factory was, so this little FIAT didn't stray very far from the plant when it came out. :)

What is not commonly known, that Karl Bauhof of Karosseriewerke Weinsberg did the original design of the prototype for the Fiat 500, which Dante Giacosa liked so much he introduced only a few changes to the front of the car.

I owned a 500 from 1960 with the suicide doors ... and stupidly traded it in for a 126. That was in 1992. Try and find one today at the price I paid £2500.00 ... but the main worry is what Boris will do with petrol that may kill that sewing machine engine.

It’s the greatest car in the world as far as I’m concerned. I own one, and I cannot drive anything else. All other cars are boring to me after experiancing the 500.

It's cute but it's tiny for a car. You would do better to buy a VW beetle than this little car. You would probably be a little safer too.

Just remember this FIAT stands for Fix It Again Tony.. My sister had this piece of junk that broke down once a week she then bought a Mini Cooper piece of junk and needed work all of the time and cost an arm and a leg. Then she bought a car that was so reliable called a Toyota Corolla that she just loves.. It starts all of the time and she took it on trips all over to Yellowstone to Grand Canyon to Yosemite to Vegas and it has 90,000 miles on it and runs like new and never ever had a problem normal tire and oil changes and a tune up and brakes... She goes when it dies she is buying another..

Has it died yet? The trouble with buying a car that is very very old is that you have no idea who drove it and how they drove it or weather it was ever serviced. Best bet is to buy a fully restored 1960s 500 from a classic car dealership. You pay £29,000 and you can lick that engine. It "will" run like new. Missed out on Bernie Ecclestone's red 1962 500 which went to auction.
