Rappers are being murdered all the time for being disrespectful and promoting gun violence. Apparently these rappers are willing to die for what they believe in but at the same time encouraging black young guys to kill each other over words and territories they don’t have any ownership of. Charleston White is important in the sense that he is unraveling the self-destructive logic that surrounds gang life. For many in the Black community gangs are an attempt to recreate our psychological need to be in groups, families, tribes... etc. That's the part of gangs that is commendable. The part that is problematic is the inward facing criminal activities that gangs use the full weight of their power to protect. Charleston White, though flawed and skewed, is standing in the line of fire forcing us to have this conversation.

@justjami96192 жыл бұрын
He's not forcing that conversation. The conversation is being had, but its one that has always been had, and he isn't making that conversation any more known. If anything he's destracting from it. Charleston White is no different than Tekashi 69 from the sense that he's a troll. He may actually believe what he's saying, but the way he's going about it is purely for notoriety and to draw attention to HIS way and HIS so called revolution. It's nothing deeper than that for Charleston White. On the surfact, what he's saying is commendable, but 600 Breezy is right when he said that he can't talk about bettering black people while also disrepecting and belittling black people. Von was who he was, and gangs are a problem, but you can't talk about people needing to die and needing to go to jail without addressing the dire problems that make up justice system, socio economic systems, and the caste system that makes up the United States and that puts so many gang members into the situations that they live in. Should people pay for their crimes? Absolutely. Is severe punishment sometimes needed? Of course. But the agenda should be on rehabilitation. Rehabbing our justice and political systems and rehabbing our communities. Charleston White doesn't preach any of that. He only cares about his antics and saying wild shit. From his perspective, he's implying that prison and killing people is the answer. So how is he any different from the police or gang members? Charleston White is what he is...a crazy old man with a platform where he can say crazy shit and antogonize gang members and black people.

And we’re quick to call Von a serial killer for killing people with the same intentions as him. It’s not right, but when you live that life it’s get it be got. Charlestons approach is a little different but I get him! Our children are dying over the most trivial things you could imagine! And everyone knows or can relate personally! But if we could learn, teach,and live one thing! Love one another as God commands us to to! We so quick to turn to violence because we are so called disrespected! Gangs have underlying agendas which mostly lead back to making money! And this man however odd his approach is fervently against gang violence! We got to pray for and come up with better solutions! Because we are loosing badly and jails and cemeteries or filling up fast!

What's crazy to me is how dudes go harder for their dead friends and willing to go in and out of jail leaving their kids to be out here alone. Crazy...... only why I'll crash out is behind defending my kids. To hell with my friends if I got responsibilities to take care of.

@Kamy Will I totally agree. It will never make sense. They're lost. And unfortunately may never be found 😕

You’re on point. You shouldn’t even have folks in your circle that would put themselves in certain situations. It’s usually obvious early on as kids where folks headed. Some switch up but you pull away from those going down the wrong path.
