I always thought it would be cool to see a SFF case with a big ass external radiator setup...love it!
@gamertechlive17802 жыл бұрын
Yeah well by seeing this external rads build. I decided to do the same when I found out that my 2x 360mm think rads on my full tower case is not really enough if a 300w GPU is added and since I also added the 2x nvme in the loop. It's a full tower but can only fit 2x 360mm the design can fit 7x 120mm fan but there is a clearance problem with a 360mm top and front so I can only do a 360 top, 240 front and 120 rear or 360 top and front. I uses 30mm rads (thin) but same issue the fittings will be hitting each other. So I have a extra 360mm think rad and will add another one and use it externally like this vid for a separate GPU loop only.
@heatnup2 жыл бұрын
kinda pointless right? couldn't you just buy something like the new da6 xl by streacom and put two 280 radiators on the brackets?
@Joh_Lam2 жыл бұрын
Honestly have been running such a setup for years and have always been wondering why it hasn't been picked up by more youtubers. Everyone is free to build what they want, but for me that's the way to run a watercooled pc. Performance and silence.
@dnlzy2 жыл бұрын
Because then you lose the compact aspect. And it costs. And it really isn't necessary. I am running a 12700k with a 3080 with a single 280 GTS. Completely silence. How? When I work only either the GPU or the CPU works - bot not both. When I game, both are working, but the CPU usually doesn't draw more than ~90w - and I use headphones so I don't heart the fans anyway.
@Joh_Lam2 жыл бұрын
@@dnlzy I do agree that you have to distinguish what is objectively necessary and what isn't. Compact aspect is not relevant to me, as I don't carry my pc around and the radiator can be placed anywhere, even behind your desk, so it doesn't bother me space wise. I'd assume that your cooling liquid in your configuration depending on your room temperature reaches 45-50C or even above. That's not an issue, but I simply prefer it to stay lower with fans spinning slowly, as I don't use headphones all the time. Even with my 3090 under full load my cooling liquid doesn't exceed about 30C and therefore the core stays around 40C which gives a higher boost clock to Nvidia cards. Not much of a difference, but as an enthusiast I don't want a watercooled card with 60C core temp. Besides my 10900k being overclocked and I like to keep temps as low as possible as well. But of course you don't need that. Optimizing is just my hobby.
@dnlzy2 жыл бұрын
@@Joh_Lam I agree about the optimization part, but from my point of view, spending a lot of money (and space) brining the GPU core to 40c when its throttling point is 74c is inefficient - and not optimized.
@Aexeq2 жыл бұрын
@@dnlzy if water temps are higher, radiators are more efficient. I for example run an A4 H2O with GTS240 + DDC internally and MoRa + D5 externally. At home everything is exceptionally cool, while the GTS is still enough for on the go.
@heatnup2 жыл бұрын
Yeah i think cases like the new da6 xl by streacom make this kind of setup pointless though. You get about the same performance if not exactly the same by using two 280mm radiators on it, its more compact yet has full compatibility. Can't exactly complain about dust though too because you already have to clean your radiator in an external radiator setup.

@paskowitz2 жыл бұрын
For people who can't big brain why this setup is a good idea: If you have limited desk space and a custom loop you want to appreciate the aesthetics of... a case with a large amount of radiator capacity or one that you put on the floor is not an option. If you have high wattage components and want a quiet build, a small form factor case is not an option. If you frequently change out components such as your GPU every year and don't want to go through the pain in the ass process of filling and draining an entire loop, neither small form factor or large case are ideal. There are numerous benefits to doing an external radiator. Other than the situations above, you now have the option of using pretty much any small form factor case that can fit your base hardware, you can change cases without having to change any cooling hardware outside of a new GPU block and some tubing. Putting the radiator on the floor or off to the side or really anywhere out of your immediate vicinity prevents it from being a practical detriment. This really isn't complicated. And if you are skeptical of this approach, just wait a year or two when it becomes even more popular.
@GGFEvents2 жыл бұрын
Thank you. But a lot of people these days believe this type or hardware doesn't require much cooling and will run in any SFF case with a basic AIO
@paskowitz2 жыл бұрын
@@GGFEvents in some cases they may even be right. However, people who spend a lot of money on top end hardware often want to get the absolute most (performance, temperatures, noise, and aesthetics) out of their hardware.
