Hey kurt please read all this. Im generally trying to help you or anyone else who may be struggling. iv been here watching since the start. Iv been in this exact position and its not good. But iv learnt not to hold them back, it only sets you back alot further. And dont buy into everyones theories with the barley and starvation when tossing and racing. My first toss is from in my yard, i leave them in there baskets overnight in my ute untill the next morning then let them out 1 create at a time. i do this a few times in the first week. Next is 5 km or for you your 7km spot. I do this untill they are all swiched on and coming out of the basket doing 1 or 2 circles and heading home 1 create at a time very important. It could take a week could take 2 but only when there ready ill move them straight to 20km ill stay here untill they beat me home. Same thing never more then 15 to 20 birds. I may even drive up the road for the next create and back to the first spot for the next create and so on. Less chance of loosing birds if 1 group gets smacked by a falcon. Next, now this is where i loose birds for a few days. But its good for them to have a good look around and and exercise there homing instinct but 50km or for you 60km in this video 1 create at a time. Next i pick out 20 of the best birds. Head out to my 50km spot let the whole flock up and hold the 20 back. once the flock clears single toss each of the best 20 birds. These birds will be for all the special races throughout the year. I feed 50 percent breeders mix 25 percent saff 25 percent corn and peanuts when trap training and upon return all year. But the day before i toss no feed. They have enough fat on them to survive a long time out there pluse the extra weight helps build muscle for the race season and the slow ones get picked off first. The last week before the race ill cut there feed back to lighten them up a bit. If you want to race out to 600km to a 1000km you must feed like this or they will burn out extreamly quick trust me. They need fat on them to get to the longer races of the season. The first half of the season is just to train your birds to fly the big races. Dont worry about the results at the start. Split your team into 2 and race one team 1 week 1 team the next incase of a smash race. if 1 doesn't look right put a marker ring on them and give them time off. On the 2nd teams off week 50km toss 1 basket at a time. Once a pigeon is homed in from the first few races you will be surprised at how long you can keep them back with just a 50km toss each week. My first race this year i sent 2 birds to the first race and placed 1st out of 1500 birds with a long distance bird. I hope all this helps for next year.

*** please read this guys comment *** iv just said same about the bullshit barley starvation method too, conned me as a relatively new flyer and I suffered massive losses nearly ruined my YB season.

Hi Kurt you have to remember that’s probably there fist good toss in a while Kurt, at least you got a some back I’d say a-few more tosses and you’ll be surprised, I know it’s been a nightmare just do what you can and win all OLR season, what ever you do I’ll be still wrecking your head with my txt😂,thats a hard 1 to take Kurt i hate them, well all know the mealy is looking for your love looking forward to seen the surprise birds, 👍🇨🇮DUBLIN🇮🇪

Keeping them from racing is not going to help mate. You need to let them fly with the falcons only way they will learn.

Love the channel, thanks for everything your doing for the sport. I know it's really easy to criticise, and I see many people in the comments doing far too much of that, but have you thought about coming away from your Frank M feeding system? I am by no means a brilliant flyer but I followed his light feed high carb program very strictly for a long while and honestly really struggled, iv recently changed it up to a more traditional higher fats higher gram diet and I'm already getting better returns. Not criticising or claiming to know better just hate seeing hard work not paying off, and finally admitting his feeding didn't work for me I think fingers crossed 🤞 might just save my season.

When the birds are not in condition and shape the falcon destroys them. Stoping and starting them with training makes it even worst. Here in usa we have similar problems.

The falcons are bad EVERYWHERE this year. They've been so over protected that what was just a nuisance is now a plague. Studies in the UK suggest that banded Racing Homers, Rollers, Tipplers and others now make up a large amount of the diet of Peregrines that were planted there. That ultimately means that predation of domestic pigeons is driving their population opposed to them subsisting on wild prey. Many people simply suggest breeding more birds to compensate for losses, but I tend to think that has driven the over population more than anything. There's a very basic predator-prey cycle taking place and I'm afraid the only real remedy is to cut off the abundant food source in the hope of starving them out a bit. My remedy for my Rollers was to simply stop providing an endless buffet of prey for my resident BOPs in the hope that they move on or simply starve. This summer I may fly some SMALL kits of Rollers (3 to 5 birds each) to gauge if cutting the food off for the last 8 months has helped.

You are avoiding falcons, and that's not going to help..... your birds need to outsmart the falcons by flying in their territory..... keep them.shut won't let the birds addjust to the pressure ever

@hendry147147 watch pigeonmania bro.... u cant beat peregrine but u can adapt and reduce the losses.... its the best selection that remains... peregrine is in natural environment so i will take time and few generations of birds to compete with them... but pigeons are very intelligent and even the 1st generation can be very different from parents

@@hendry147147 incorrect I have seen squeakers pull them into a tight circle flying three abreast and work them until it is sweating them they made him climb into the sun then they break for the loft - tell me how did they learn that - those are the birds you breed off brains guts speed

@@tomwallhead6950 that’s a daft thing to say…. I’m talking about one hit by a falcon and you’ve lost 20 birds in a training. You could have been training for weeks on the road to get destroyed in minutes by the hawks or falcon
