I broke with the GOP in 2006 because I felt they finally lost their way politically; but I recognized there were still very good, moral, and dedicated patriots in the party. Before 2016, I’d still vote for reasonable and thoughtful GOP candidates who showed they were true conservatives, law abiding, and not reactionary culture warriors. After 2016 I vowed to never vote GOP again. Former Sec. Esper is one of those GOP holdouts who believe ethics, duty, character, and the Constitution really matters. I thank him for being a bulwark against Trumpian authoritarianism and chaos. His is another voice sounding the alarm that the Trump movement in the GOP is a threat to the U.S. Constitution and the Democracy held dear in our Republic.
