The part where "after some time spent practicing spins, you'll notice it get worse" is so true. I am now stuck at doing the one foot entry for the spins. Hm... I feel like it's still pretty difficult for me at this stage. But will keep on practicing :) and I can do at most like 3 rotations and when really lucky 4 rotations tops. :'(

I realize you two specialize in things relevant to dance skating, but I think this is great for your videos to occasionally have a guest to cover some of the moves that are more freestyle.

Have a look at iCoachSkating, it is a paying channel, but very worthwile if you are skating regularly and want to learn a lot from skating coaches. I am not at all affiliated with that channel, I am just a hobby skater ;-)

+FrankieVercammen1 I have checked out icoach, myskatecoach, thin ice, and some other random ones I've come across. I'm putting together some of the pieces of the puzzle on skating moves. There are certainly varying opinions on how to do moves, so it's good to get different perspectives and see what works best. I realize what works best for one may not work as well for another.

Another thing about dizziness, if you get dizzy, spin the other way. It gives your brain variety and makes you no longer or less dizzy

Yes. I've known that since I was a little kid, and I'm using that now as an adult to practice spins lol

The coaches scold me for doing it. Apparently you are not allowed to go both ways. LOL whoever made the rules couldn't go both ways, so they beat everyone into submission. I can't see any reason not to try things both ways.

Most people have a dominant foot. I have never attempted to "spin the other way"

Thank you so much for this video! The forward scratch spin is really daunting and a bit beyond me when it comes to controlling the tension. I seldom attempt it but this gives me a little boost of confidence and makes me feel like i could give it another go next time on the ice! Thanks so much again!

I'm starting to learn these in my free time (I've just began gold on NISA) and they're really hard for me because I find it hard to keep tension, but I've been training a lot and my strength has increased a lot! My main problem is balance, though. I keep on getting something out of line and it fails, and I didn't know where to put my free leg. This looks very helpful, thank you!

Try bending your leg a little to find the correct balance before straightening it for the spin to essentially 'lock it into place' this worked for me when I had trouble keeping my upright spins centered

I have a massive problem with keeping center and my leg doesn’t want to cross over. I’ve had my one foot spin for a long time and it’s become rather easy but I’m stuck on my cross foot! Tips please?

@kseniyaOleg
@kseniyaOleg 7 жыл бұрын
Hi Linn, finish your entry edge, don't rush it. Establish your position first before changing it. Make sure that you are spinning on the ball of the foot and have a straight axis running through you. More spins coming next week on my other channel.

where is "the rocker of your blade"?
@kseniyaOleg

It's where your toes connect to your foot. At least that part of your body corresponds to it in correctly sized skates.
